Whole Foods shoppers could be in for a treat — or at least a discount. The grocery chain has pledged to lower its prices, following a much talked-about acquisition by Amazon last week.

The reported $13.7 billion deal closed today, and its effects can already be seen in many Whole Foods stores across the country. Vowing to make “high-quality, natural and organic food affordable for everyone,” the chain has lowered prices on a selection of best-selling grocery staples, with more to come.

Another sampling found organic avocados now down to $1.99 each, while organic kale and organic lettuce both dropped about 50 cents per package.

The Secret Guide to Amazon Prime Benefits

Amazon Prime members will also reap the benefits of this new deal. Teams are currently working to integrate Amazon Prime into the Whole Foods point-of-sale system, so Prime members will soon be able to receive special savings and in-store benefits at checkout.

Amazon Lockers will also be available in select Whole Foods stores. Customers can have products shipped from Amazon.com to their local Whole Foods store for pick up, or use it to send returns back to Amazon.

“Everybody should be able to eat Whole Foods Market quality – we will lower prices without compromising Whole Foods Market’s long-held commitment to the highest standards,” said Jeff Wilke, CEO of AmazonWorldwide Consumer, in a press release. “And this is just the beginning – we will make Amazon Prime the customer rewards program at Whole Foods Market and continuously lower prices as we invent together.”

Whole Foods currently has 468 stores across the U.S., Canada and the UK. In addition to changes at physical Whole Foods stores, Amazon says Whole Foods’ private label products — including 365 Everyday Value, Whole Foods Market, Whole Paws and Whole Catch — will now be available to order for delivery through Amazon.com.
