* Offline Mode, which was first introduced for smartphones, now available on desktop
* Windows users can download movies to watch later
* Updated Netflix app runs faster and uses less battery

It’s a good time to be a PC user. According to a new report, Netflix has begun rolling out a new offline feature to let Windows 10 users (finally) download movies. Now people can take advantage of Netflix’s 6,000+ movies and 1,500+ shows and watch them even if they aren’t connected to WiFi.

But wait — readers may remember how Netflix’s Offline Mode was first introduced in November for Android and iPhones. Well, it turned out to be such a hit that Netflix has decided to start including it on their desktop versions too. Sorry, Mac users. Looks like you’re gonna have to wait a little longer.

Note that you’ll need to download the latest Netflix Windows 10 app in order to download movies. While it may seem like a hassle, the Windows app is actually much faster and uses less battery compared to traditionally opening a Netflix browser, meaning you can watch for longer. Win-win, right?

Once you have the latest version updated, simply click on the hamburger menu on the left to see which titles are available for download. Easy peasy.

As Netflix had previously stated they were against downloads — even going so far as saying they would never offer an offline feature —  this comes as a welcome surprise.

While not every title is available for download, most Netflix original movies and series are. With competing sites like Amazon Prime already offering offline downloads, is this Netflix’s attempt to play catch-up?
