* Picks for both guys and gals
* Asian Fit is not code for just nose pads
* The struggle is real but we’re here to help

If you’re like any number of Asian Americans with distinct facial features like high cheek bones and a shallow nose bridge, then you know how difficult it can be at times to find glasses or sunglasses that properly fit your face. Because nobody likes having to constantly readjust their glasses so they don’t touch their cheeks or slide down their nose.

In recent years, several companies have introduced “Asian Fit” specs and often times that just means you’ll have to deal with adjustable nose pads in order to get the right fit, but that’s only part of it. There are a number of other factors you should be looking for, like a fairly flat frame and a bridge that’s 16 to 18 millimeters wide. Typical frames that fit Western Europeans generally range between 20 to 22 millimeters wide.

You should also look for frames that add angles to your face, and draw the eyeline upwards. Many people swear by the popular Dior “So Real” Sunglasses (similar to what the model is wearing, above), but we’ve found five pairs that come in a little friendlier for your wallet.

1. Ted Baker London 54mm Polarized Sunglasses

First on our list are a pair of polarized shades from Ted Baker London. These are technically men’s but we don’t see any issue with the ladies donning these either given the simple and classic style. The square shaped frames work well to balance out a rounder face.

2. Ray-Ban Original Wayfarer “Asian Fit”

Could there be a more true original classic than the Wayfarer from Ray-Ban? Probably not. Though there are updated takes on the Wayfarer, this is the original model, but built specifically for those with Asian faces. Again, these can swing both ways.

3. Coach Blair

The Blair Sunglasses from Coach have integrated nose guards and includes a protective case. But more importantly, the Blairs have a 15 millimeter bridge, so it should sit and feel perfect, ladies.

4. Persol 649 Series

Only a handful of brands carry the cachet of Persol given its rich history in optics, and Persol’s 649 Series features a full acetate frame in “Havana” and photochromatic brown lenses that are akin to transitions lenses. Sport them like the model in the photo up top for a slick, easy and professional look.

5. Prada PR 01OSA – Alternate Fit

It doesn’t get much better than this oversized frame from Prada. They’re simple, the styling is retro chic and the hits of gold at the temples take these up another notch. A slight cat-eye helps to make the eyes look fuller and bigger, drawing attention upwards instead of causing the face to droop down.
