* This school year, go old school with one or all of these Jordan Retros
* Whether you’re in class, at the gym or out with friends, our picks work with any outfit
* Not sure what a “retro” is? Read on…
Class will soon be back in session and if there’s one upside to going back to school, it’s that you get to cop a new pair of sneakers. This year, rather than getting the latest new fangled whatsit, grab a pair of Jordan Retros.
A Retro, for the uninitiated, is a sneaker that had already been released and is releasing again, which can be anywhere from 5-30 years. Luckily for you, we’ve picked a few recent Retros for just about any situation you might find yourself in back on campus. Wear these to class, to the gym and on a date. Or, buy these limited-edition sneakers to collect and hope they’ll go up in value in a few years to help pay off that student loan.
1. Jordan Trunner LX OG
This is the Jordan Trunner LX OG. It was first released back in 2000 and was one of the first non-basketball shoes the Jumpman imprint (or as it was called back then, “Brand Jordan”) put on the market. If you’re in need of a pair of trainers that don’t look like workout shoes, these are the ones to get. Even if you only make it to the gym once a week, you can still rock these the rest of the week. (Also available in black and blue.)
2. Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Yin Yang”
Even if you’re not a sneakerhead, you know what these are or, at the very least, know these are Jordans. What they are are the Air Jordan 1, which originally debuted in 1985. They were so radical at the time that the NBA fined Michael Jordan for every game he wore a pair in the original (OG) red and black colorway (aka “Banned”).
OG colorways are incredibly hard to come by these days as quantities are limited and demand is high. These, however, are just as good, if not better than most hyped pairs of Js. The silhouette on the Jordan 1 is a timeless classic and so is this simple black and white colorway. You’d be surprised at how many pairs of the same Jordan 1s you’ll see this fall and hardly any of these. Wear them wherever and whenever – they go with everything. (Also available in white.)
3. Air Jordan 4 Retro “Pure Money”
Gym? Check. Class? Check. Now you need a pair to floss and the “Pure Money” Air Jordan 4 is a retro of a retro that is too clean to pass up. The original Air Jordan 4 debuted in 1989 and the first retro came ten years later in 1999. The all-white luxe edition with chromed out eyelets on the wings, like the ones below, originally released in 2005 and again earlier this year. But if all-white isn’t your thing, there are plenty of other colors to pick from.
