Variety revealed that a reboot of the 80s crime drama Miami Vice is in the works with NBC.
The original series chronicled the adventures of two Miami-based undercover narcotic detectives James “Sonny” Crockett and Ricardo “Rico” Tubbs at the height of Miami’s drug trade boom in the 80s.
The iconic show has become well known for its distinticve aesthetix, as well as its influence on fashion and music trends of the decade.
The news that the TV show may be resurfacing coincides well with a renewed interest in 80s beach culture and its sartorial manifestations. Here’s how to channel your inner Sonny Crockett and Rico Tubbs, just in time for summer’s finale.

Don Johnson starred as Sonny Crockett, who became known for his love of monochromatic linen pants suits paired with casual t-shirts.
A crisp white linen suit is a casual spin on dressier styles and will be a great choice for late summer and early fall weddings. Instead of the firearm, opt for Sonny’s second go-to accessory–a statement wrist watch.
Miami’s landscape is densely packed with art-deco architecture painted in a rainbow of watercolor pastels, and the Vice wardrobe palette closely matched its setting.
The men of the Metro-Dade Police Department weren’t afraid of wearing pink, and you shouldn’t be either. Go ahead and try the millennial pink trend—Sonny and Rico proved that it is anything but girly decades ago.
