* Mario once again sets out to save Princess Peach from Bowser
* Over two million copies sold after only a few days
* Super Mario Odyssey currently has a 97% Metacritic score
Since launching in March, Nintendo’s Switch console has sold over 7 million units worldwide and that number will soon eclipse total lifetime sales of the Wii U. You just might call that a hit. But it seems no one could have predicted just how well the latest in the Mario franchise, Super Mario Odyssey, would sell either. With the holidays coming up, you might want to get yourself a copy now before it sells out.
So what can you expect from the latest adventures of your favorite plumber? Mario once again sets out to rescue Princess Peach from the clutches of the evil Bowser before they’re wed. The twist, though, is that Mario’s hat, Cappy, is now possessed by a “spirit” and able to, well, do things to help Mario along the way. Oh, and you get to travel from Kingdom to Kingdom in the Odyssey airship.
In just a few days since it was released on October 27, Super Mario Odyssey has already sold over 2 million copies. To put that number into context, it took Nintendo Switch launch title Zelda: Breath of the Wild over a month to sell 2.7 million copies.
Like all the best Mario games, you can team up with a friend on your quest to take down Bowser. And with a 97% Metacritic score, you can’t go wrong.
