We’re less than a few weeks away from entering 2018 (we can’t believe it, either). For many of us, the New Year presents the opportunity to ditch a bad habit or two, swear off sugar, and commit to a fitness regimen. Getting back in shape after the holiday season is never an easy task, but we’ve rounded up some creative workouts that will match the personality traits associated with each zodiac sign. If you like your workout, you’re more likely to stick to it, right?
Capricorn (December 21-January 19)
Capricorns tend to be more traditional than the other signs, and will often avoid experimenting with new trends and fads. Capricorns value reliability, dependability, and proven results. This sign does well with gym workouts on machines and lifting free weights to stay in shape. Plus, the calorie count and mileage displays on fitness machines keep them motivated by tracking their progress.
Aquarious (January 20-February 18)
The Aquarius is eternally curious, creative and honest. They often have creative jobs, and are always willing to try new trends — whether it’s fashion, food, or fitness. There have never been more creative options for fitness classes to keep you in shape. From barre to boot camp, taking different classes as opposed to sticking to a standard gym routine will help you stay on track.
Pisces (February 19-March 20)
Pisces are passionate, intuitive, and value relationships. Staying connected is essential to the Pisces, and this doesn’t exclude their relationship with their bodies. Yoga is a great option for this sign, as it focuses on the mind, body, and soul.
Aries (March 20-April 19)
Aries are known for their unwavering confidence, fearlessness, and competitive spirit. Aries tend to be physically active and with their competitive spirit, are often big sports fans and usually maintain a strict workout regimen. A competitive and high-intensity workout that blends cardio and resistance training will please an Aries. Try Flywheel classes or invest in an indoor bike. Taurus (April 19-May 20)
Taurus’ are governed by a reason and logical intent when it comes to making decisions, but they’re also intensely sensual with a sophisticated taste. They love to eat, go out, and be social and don’t want to be a slave to strict fitness regimes. As with everything in life, Taurus’ prefer an inspired and artful workout rather than solitary session at the gym. Dance classes make the ideal workout for the cultured Taurus. Try learning a sultry Latin dance, such as salsa or bachata to get your heart rate going. This will feel more like a hobby, and less like a scheduled workout once you get started.
Gemini (May 20-June 20)
Geminis get bored easily and tend to have a short attention span. Switching up workouts will help keep the Gemini on track and motivated. HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) will keep Geminis moving and engaged as they cycle through high-intensity reps with short rests in between.
Cancer (June 20-July 22)
Cancers value pride, and love surrounding themselves with other people. The social sign values a sense of community and loves to work out in a challenging group setting. Leo (July 22-August 22)
Leos overarching trait is their unwavering pride. They like to show off their talents and capabilities, and that includes their physical strength. Virgo (August 23-September 22)
Virgo’s are very focused and appreciate structure, routine, and measurable results from their labors. When it comes to fitness, Virgo’s will appreciate exercises centered around structure, form, and technique rather than high-intensity interval workouts. Barre and Pilates are great options for this sign, as both exercises are based on precision and controlled movements to lengthen and tone the body.
Libra (September 23-October 22)
Libra is the sign of balance, and those who fall under this sign tend to be non-confrontational and warm. Scorpio (October 23-November 21)
As one of the most powerful signs in the Zodiac, Scorpios are often sharply focused and intense, and they tend to favor tasks that are goal-oriented. The same goes for their fitness preferences–intense workouts that exude their power and help them build up their stamina are solid choices for this sign. Boxing and running are natural picks for the Scorpio fitness plan, and they have the focus to guide themselves and stay consistent with their routines.
Sagittarius (November 21-December 21)
This outgoing fire sign gravitates to activities that are social, energy-packed, and offer variety to keep things fun. Planning and routine aren’t this sign’s strong suits, so scheduled classes may turn off a Sag. They love to try new things, and love to take the opportunity to experience anything that takes them out of their comfort zone. Sagittarius will do well with full body workouts, like rock climbing or MMA training.
