There’s no shortage of buzzy sneaker releases this Spring. Just last Sunday, Nike celebrated Air Max Day, and the brand completely sold out on their new VaporMax model. Adidas, not to be outshone, announced their Best of Boost on Saturday, where they restocked on some of their most popular models.
In a further attempt to up-stage Nike, the Mi Adidas Ultra Boost dropped their Multi-Color Primeknit options in their NYC Flagship store. We also saw NY-based brand, Ewing Athletics, partner with 2Chainz for the Ewing Athletics 2Chainz Ewing 33 Hi, and Reebok partner with British website END Clothing for the END x Reebok Instapump Fury “Black Salmon,” earlier in the month.
Sneakers have become more than just shoes though — they’re an industry in and of themselves, with websites, blogs and fan sites dedicated to them. There are low-tops and high-tops, slip-ons and leather, and they’re no longer just for athletes. (See: the Yeezy’s) So what else is launching soon? Read on for SPY’s guide to the most-anticipated sneaker releases of Spring 2017. Remember, style starts at the bottom.
1. Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Royal”
Available: April 2017
Get a blast from the past with the highly-anticipated “Royal” Jordans, a re-issue that first appeared in 1985. The new ones have some great updates though, such as the leather texture that appears on the swoosh.
2. Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 “Triple White”
Available: Rumored April 2017
Cost: Estimated $220
On top of the Boost mid-sole is a clean all-white exterior, and rumor has it that they will have the same stripes of past-releases, just hidden- and only visible through UV light. There’s also an updated heel tab and new Primeknit patterns, in addition to the white-on-white-on-white colorway.
3. UA Curry 3ZERO
Under Armor has now updated the UA Curry 3, with an added charged cushioning pad for stability and flexibility. Under Armor is also gifting them to 12 men’s and 11 women’s schools, as part of their give back initiative with Steph Curry.
4. Nike Air Jordan 4 Pure Money
These all-white Air Jordan 4’s with silver wings, will have “Pure $” embroidered on the inside of the heel tab. Originally released in 2006, these kicks are known for their stark colorway and platinum accents, in addition to the iconic chunky rubber sole.
5. Adidas Laceless Ultra Boost Uncaged
Available: Rumored Summer 2017
Cost: Estimated $180
The next step for the Adidas Ultra Boost? Rumor has it that they’re releasing a laceless slip-on version. It will be available in a variety of shades, and maintain its patented heel cage and full length Boost mid-sole. Lightweight as ever, they’re reportedly being made available for men, women and potentially kids sizes as well. Will we see them on your feet?
