* Club Getaway is hosting Camp John Waters
* Classic activities and more with a Waters theme
* Accommodations on first-come basis
The Pope of Intential Bad Taste is breaking out of independent films and stepping into…. summer camp? Camp John Waters is slated for the weekend of September 22-24 at Club Getaway in Kent, CT, and if you’re a fan of Waters or just want a unique adults-only trip,
Campers will enjoy classic sleepaway activities like water skiing, a slip n’ slide, a zip line, camp fire with s’mores and pontoon boat rides. Other activities of a more Waters-esque nature will include a John Waters Movie Marathon, a John Waters Costume Contest (judged by Waters himself) and a John Waters Dance Party (cha cha heels not included, because nice girls don’t wear them).
The website also lists these simply-named events: John Waters Reading a John Waters’ Book, John Waters Performing a One Man Show, a John Waters Q&A and Hairspray Karaoke.
And of course, no grown-up getaway is complete without booze, which is why the camp will also include Bloody Mary Bingo and Scotch & Cigars.
Space is limited to only 300 campers, so you’d do best not to stall booking your reservation. Prices start at $499. Double, triple, quad and premium quad cabins are going on a first-come, first-reserved basis. All meals and activities are included with your cabin rental, but alcohol costs extra. Also, everyone gets a signed copy of Waters’ newest book, “Make Trouble.”
