1. Marvel’s Runaways

Being a teenager is hard enough, but when you’re a mutant and your parents perform weird occult rituals which just might involve trying to sacrifice your friends, it’s really rough. Based on the hit comic by Brian K. Vaughn, Runaways has been described as The OC meets Marvel. By turns endearing and thrilling, Runaways has been approved for another season, but you can stream season 1 right now.

2. The Path

This controversial thriller centers around a new-agey spiritual cult and its charismatic leader. Blending international adventure with family drama, The Path is now in its third season. Not so much “inner peace” in this tumultuous original series, but there is plenty of Ayahuasca and intrigue.

3. Future Man

Seth Rogen co-executive produces this futuristic comedy is about a present-day slacker who gets more than he bargained for when he beats a seemingly-forgotten video game. This tongue-in-cheek take on Ender’s Game is a must-see for fans of Robot Chicken, Futurama, and Family Guy.

4. 11.22.63

Based on a book by Stephen King, this acclaimed miniseries stars James Franco as a divorced English teacher who gets a chance to travel back in time to the 1960s and try to prevent the Kennedy assassination, only to learn that access to a time machine doesn’t necessarily cure a chronic inability to let go of the past.

5. The Handmaid’s Tale

Hulu’s adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s 1985 novel is the first streaming series to win a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Series. Set in a future where the U.S. has fallen to a quasi-religious authoritarian regime that brutally subjugates women and strictly polices all sexuality, The Handmaid’s Tale stars Elizabeth Moss and a second season goes online next month.
