Save Time and Energy With a Smart Vacuum That Cleans for You

Finding more time to do the things you love or simply avoiding the things that you can’t stand (we mean cleaning) isn’t always easy. That’s why when it comes to choosing products that are worth splurging on, anything that can give customers back their precious time to spend with friends and family is often worth the price. When it comes to automated cleaning, we have dishwashers, self-cleaning ovens and washing machines. Although robot vacuums have been around for a few years, they’ve recently had a makeover. Now smart vacuums are making it easier than ever for customers to clean their homes without losing more of their time.

Smart vacuums are controlled by customized apps created by vacuum retailers. With the swipe of a finger, users can set when and how often they want their floors cleaned, what rooms to clean, and what areas to avoid. Smart vacuums make it easy for customers to vacuum their floors with more regularity than they typically would using a traditional stick or stand-up vacuum, which helps keep floors cleaner, cutting down on dirt and debris that can damage carpet, hardwood and tiles.

Not only are smart vacuums great for busy people who don’t want to spend time cleaning, but they are also a breakthrough product for users with mobility issues who are physically unable to push a traditional vacuum.

If you’re ready to get back the time you spend cleaning your floors, check out our list of the best smart vacuums available now.

1. iRobot Roomba 675

BEST OVERALL

As one of the most trusted names in robot vacuums, the Roomba has set the standard for smart vacuums. With the iRobot Roomba 675, the company has created an intuitive vacuum that uses intelligent sensors to gently navigate around furniture and other items. The sensors can also detect when areas need extra attention for heavy build-up of dirt and debris. Built with a three-stage cleaning system, the iRobot Roomba 675 loosens, lifts, and suctions dirt and hair. The vacuum has an auto-adjust cleaning head that can switch back and forth for hardwood and carpet. Customers can control their iRobot through the vacuum’s app and schedule cleaning even when not home. When customers are at home, they can use voice commands through Alexa or Google Home to control their vacuum. The iRobot will automatically return to its docking station to charge when its battery runs low. We also like that Roomba has a well-established customer service department and stocks replacement parts for all their vacuums.

2. Ecovacs DEEBOT N79S Robotic Vacuum Cleaner

RUNNER UP

For a user-friendly smart vacuum that can handle tough messes, we recommend the Ecovacs DEEBOT N79S Robotic Vacuum Cleaner. Users can control the Ecovas using the included remote control, a great option for customers who are not totally comfortable with smart products quite yet. Once users get the hang of the vacuum they can pair the Ecovacs through an app on their smartphone or use Alexa or Google Assistant. The vacuum has three levels of intensity, including a deep cleaning mode which has two times the amount of section for ground-in dirt and debris. The Ecovas has a 520ml dustbin that is easy to empty. Dual length side brushes help to rid floors of dog and cat hair. Depending on the cleaning mode, the Ecovas can run for up to 110 minutes. Once the battery is depleted, the vacuum will automatically return to its docking station and begin recharging.

3. eufy by Anker

LOW CLEARANCE HEIGHT

For a powerful smart vacuum that works with a variety of flooring types, we recommend trying the eufy by Anker. The eufy works with the eufyHome App, as well as Alexa and Google Assistant, giving users the ability to clean their floors with minimal effort. The eufy has a run time of 100 minutes after which it will automatically return to its docking station to begin recharging. The smart vacuum has a powerful 1500Pa suction motor and BoostIQ that recognizes when there is a change in flooring. After 1.5 seconds, the vacuum will readjust its suction level to match its new flooring.

At 2.85 inches high, the eufy is one of the slimmer robot vacuums on the market, allowing it to fit under some pieces of furniture. Nine anti-collision infrared sensors help to ensure that the vacuum won’t run into large objects or get stuck under furniture. A 600mL dustbin means the eufy can perform a thorough cleaning before users have to empty its contents. Like the Ecovacs, the eufy also comes with a remote control that does not require smartphone or Wi-Fi capabilities. The eufy comes with boundary strips that users can place in front of areas they don’t want the vacuum to go, including areas with kids’ toys or low pieces of furniture where the vacuum could get stuck.

4. Roborock S6 Pure Robot Vacuum and Mop

BEST VACUUM AND MOP COMBO

We have previously written about our love for Roborock and specifically the S6 model and will continue to praise the smart vacuum that has kept our floors clean even when the rest of our house has looked…not so clean. It’s a pandemic – you want your home clean enough that you’re comfortable, but it’s not like you’re about to entertain dinner guests. The S6 vacuums and mops your floors AT THE SAME TIME, which excuse our shouting, is a big deal. This not only saves time, but it means you don’t have to change pads from wet to dry. We received a sample of the S6 model and were impressed by how quickly it mapped our floors and could easily go from vacuuming and mopping tile to vacuuming our rug in one smooth movement. Setting no-go zones is easy and can be adjusted frequently, which helped for the three months our Christmas tree was up (we needed cheer a little bit longer this year). The S6 is quiet and has a built-in camera that allows users to see what the vacuum sees, which is a cool feature when you’re away from home. It also has a large dust bin and water tank that rarely have to be emptied/filled.

5. BISSELL SpinWave Hard Floor Expert

BEST FOR HARDWOOD

For another vacuuming and mopping combo, there’s the Bissell SpinWave. Ideal for hardwood floors and low pile carpets and rugs, the Bissell uses dual spinning brushes with up to 1500 PA to help pick up debris when in vacuum mode. When mopping, the Bissell will detect carpets and rugs and avoid them. The Bissell has a 100-minute continuous runtime and can be controlled by its app. Like the Roborock, the Bissell also boasts vacuuming and mopping capabilities, but unlike the Roborock, the Bissell can only perform in one mode at a time. Users must change the pad on the vacuum when they want a dry vacuum and again when they want their hardwood floors mopped with water or the Bissell hardwood cleaning formula.

6. Samsung Electronics R7040 Robot Vacuum

EXCELLENT FOR CLEANING TRIM

Most smart vacuums are designed in a circular shape, which can make it difficult for them to get into corners and clean along the edges of the trim. The Samsung Electronics R7040 Robot Vacuum has taken this design issue to heart and created a smart vacuum that has a flat side and rubber blade that extends beyond the vacuum to help get into tight spaces and ensure no dust bunnies or crumbs are able to get away. Samsung claims their smart vacuum boasts 20 times more cleaning power than a conventional, circular smart vacuum. Using Visionary Mapping technology, Samsung spots objects in its way and avoids them before making contact. The WiFi-enabled vacuum works with its own app and Amazon Alexa, allowing allows users to see where the vacuum has cleaned and set a schedule, adjust the suction level.

7. Kenmore 31510 Robot Vacuum Cleaner

BEST BARGAIN

Smart vacuums typically come with a big price tag, but the Kenmore 31510 Robot Vacuum Cleaner makes it possible to easily clean your floors without cleaning out your bank account. The smart vacuum has 120 minutes of run time at 1800 PA of suction power with three speed options and four cleaning modes for users to choose from. The Kenmore is able to automatically switch from carpet to floor/tile mode and it has an anti-bump sensor to help reduce the chance of it running into furniture. Likewise, an anti-cliff sensor helps to keep the Kenmore safely on your floor and avoid crashing down a flight of stairs. One of the most affordably priced smart vacuums, the Kenmore is still powerful enough to handle pet hair and it also works with Amazon Alexa.

8. Tesvor Robot Vacuum Cleaner

LONG CLEANING TIME

For a vacuum that doesn’t have to make frequent trips back to its dock to recharge mid-clean, we like the Tesvor Robot Vacuum Cleaner. The smart vacuum has an impressive 150-minute run time and a 0.6L dust bin that can make several passes over floors before having to be manually emptied. Three-layers of filters and a powerful 4000PA suction picks up most pet hair, dust, dirt, and debris on carpet, hardwood, and tile. The Tresvor has anti-drop technology that helps ensure the vacuum won’t take a tumble off stairs and it also features anti-collision technology to keep it from bumping into furniture or other large items. Using the Tresvor app on your phone or through Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, users can set a cleaning schedule and monitor the current cleaning job.

Pet parents, rejoice! The Shark is also designed with an extra-large dust bin to help accommodate pet hair and has a high-efficiency filter to help capture dust, dander, and other pet allergens. 10. Neato Botvac D7 Connected Robot Vacuum

BEST FOR LARGE HOMES

The Neato Botvac is the Cadillac of the Neato line of smart vacuums and has a price point that reflects its status. Once the sticker shock has subsided, customers will appreciate the vacuum’s impressive suction power, which can handle hair from multiple pets and easily cleans plush carpeting. Using Floor Planner technology, customers can map out where they want the vacuum to travel and what areas to avoid. They can also set a schedule to keep their floors clean when they’re away from home or forget to turn on the vacuum. Ideal for users with large homes, the Botvac can be programmed for up to 5,000 square feet. Two spin brushes mean multiple types of flooring can be cleaned and even small particles will be picked up and placed in the vacuum’s large dust bin.
