Review: The Nutribullet Brew Choice Pod + Carafe Coffee Maker — Is It As Good As The Brand’s Blenders & Juicers?

Traditionally known for their personal-sized blenders and high-functioning juicers, Nutribullet recently made its foray into coffee makers, introducing its first coffee machine: the Nutribullet Brew Choice — a hybrid carafe and single-serve coffee maker.

While some households may find a dilemma in deciding whether or not they need a machine that makes a single mug or full pot, the Nutribullet Brew Choice Pod + Carafe coffee machine makes things easy by providing a way to do both.

Nutribullet sent SPY a machine to test, so keep reading for our thoughts on the product below.

What We Liked About the Nutribullet Brew Choice Pod + Carafe Coffee Maker

At first glance, the Nutribullet Brew Choice machine looks just like your standard automatic drip coffee maker. It has a glass coffee carafe and basket where your filter and grounds are placed, a clock and an operational button that allows you to choose your desired serving size. With further inspection, you’ll notice that the machine also has an area for K-cup coffee pods.

If you’re a minimalist or short on space, this machine will be a welcome addition to your kitchen. It stands at about 14.5 inches high, 8 inches wide and 13 inches deep. Convenient and space-saving, this device offers plenty of options, no matter which direction you decide to take on your coffee adventure. It can, in fact, brew six, eight or 10-ounce servings via pods, or six, nine or 12 cups via carafe, which is great for any home or office setting that may need to customize coffee servings on a day-to-day basis.

Related Stories

What makes it particularly convenient is its ability to automatically detect whether you’ve added the pod holder or carafe coffee filter, adjusting the display accordingly. Besides the small footprint, that may actually be our favorite thing about the machine.

As far as other notable specs, this coffee maker features a clock, brew pause, water alert, a reuseable pod, a gold-tone filter and a warmer that claims to keep the coffee carafe hot for up to two hours. Also included are a coffee scoop and a recipe book that offers directions for specialty coffee drinks and desserts, which is great if you love switching things up on a regular basis.

Operationally, the coffee maker couldn’t be easier to use. It’s fully assembled and ready to use straight out of the box — after cleaning of course. Simply add your pod or desired grounds and begin brewing. A single serving took mere minutes to brew with a full 12-cup carafe taking less than 10 minutes to reach capacity. It operates in near silence with a mild alert that sounds to let you know when it’s ready for consumption.

In the end, it provided yummy, piping hot coffee — cup and carafe alike. And at $139.99, the price point isn’t too bad either.

What We Didn’t Like About the Nutribullet Brew Choice Pod + Carafe Coffee Maker

While the Nutribullet Brew Choice Pod + Carafe Coffee Maker is great in many ways, there were some drawbacks to note. Namely, the lack of a timer, which may be a turn-off for those who enjoy scheduling their coffee makers to brew at pre-set times. Likewise, although not terrible, the warming feature could use a little improvement. While it claims to keep coffee warm for up to two hours, we found the coffee to only be lukewarm at the two-hour mark. However, it was still somewhat warm, so this was not a dealbreaker for us.

The Verdict:

If you have a family or household that requires different-sized pots of coffee daily, this is a great option for you. The automatic filter/pod detection, small footprint, and ease of use, along with price point, make the Nutribullet Brew Choice Pod + Carafe Coffee Maker the ideal product for any household. All in all, we’d say it’s a great value at $139.99.
