The Easiest Way To Marie Kondo Your Tech Is With Cable Ties

Maybe one day we’ll be able to control our TVs with our minds and all of our devices will be powered by that vibranium stuff from Black Panther. Until then, though, there’s not much of an alternative to often unsightly and annoying cables. Whether for transferring media or supplying power, most household tech requires at least a couple of cables. And wireless accessories like speakers need to plugged in eventually. While wires and cables aren’t going anywhere, at least you can keep them organized.

Cable ties are the low-tech but highly effective solution for cable management. Many cable ties are versatile enough to be used at home or on the go. Velcro ties can help you securely organize the cables around your media stand, or you can use them to neatly wrap chargers and headphone cords while commuting or traveling. Or for a more permanent solution, zip ties are an economical solution and suit a variety of purposes. These are some of our favorite cable ties for keeping your cables in check.

1. VELCRO Brand One Wrap Thin Ties

As is the case with popsicles and Q-tips, you might not have realized that Velcro is actually a trademarked product. These cable ties are made by the Velcro brand, so you can depend on their adhesive abilities. The ties have a hole that you feed one end through and close on the other end, similar to a belt. That makes them adjustable, reusable, and convenient.

Pros:  Adjustable and reusable ties from the original Velcro brand, value pack includes 100 ties.

Cons: Only available in black, feeding the end through the hole can be difficult, as it tends to get stuck.

2. Cable Matters Nylon Cable Ties

Zip ties are very secure and easy to use, which is why they’re popular for a wide variety of applications. These nylon cable ties are a good solution for organizing wires and cords around the TV, media stand, or computer. Like all zip ties, they’re designed as a single-use option, meaning they’re not ideal for on the go applications.

Pros: Value pack includes 200 black and white cables of varying lengths. More secure than Velcro closures.

Cons: Well suited for cable management, but not as sturdy for professional use.

3. Attmu Reusable Fastening Cable Ties

These cable ties use a hook and loop closure, like the Velcro option, and they come in a pack of 50 and are 6 inches long. They come in two color options: black is well suited for discreet cable management and colorful cables will help you stay organized by color-coding your cables.

Pros: Available in either black or various bright colors. Ties have a large hole on the end, making it easier to feed the other end through.

Cons: Not as durable as other options.
