* “The League” app is coming to London
* Bills itself as “Tinder for the elites”
* App currently available in six cities in the U.S.
An exclusive American dating app is making its European debut in London April 25. “The League” is looking to create “power-couple” dynamics rather than hook-ups, and calls itself “Tinder for the elites.” The app launched in 2015 and is currently only available in Boston, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Chicago and Washington D.C. However, it’s looking to go further, and expand into ten international cities by the end of the year.
Founder and CEO Amanda Bradford chose London as the first launch-base for international expansion due to its “incredible pool of ambitious, well-educated men and women,” as well as its “similarities to Manhattan.” The app will only select 2,000 out of the 10,000 people currently on its UK wait list. It screens members based on educational and professional background, and if you are accepted, you receive an e-mail stating that you’ve been “drafted into the league.”
Unlike Tinder, which aims to match people based on mutual connections, The League gathers your LinkedIn data to prevent you from matching with your co-workers, as well as searching your Facebook friends to ensure you don’t see any familiar faces there either.
Ready to get it a shot? The League is currently free to download. For $179, users can access special features, like a greater pool of potential mates, and invites to exclusive events.
