If you own an Xbox One, your gaming options are about to get a whole lot better. Microsoft is releasing it’s subscription-based download service on June 1, complete will a full library of Xbox One and Xbox 360 games, reports TechCrunch. It’s available to Xbox Live Gold members starting today.
Similar to PlayStation Now and Nvidia’s GeForce NOW streaming service, Xbox Game Pass subscribers will pay a monthly fee ($11.99) for the all-you-can-play service. Where Microsoft has a leg up on the competition is that Xbox Game Pass will allow users to download full titles. That feature allows you to access and play games offline, eliminating the need for a solid internet connection to ensure smooth streaming.
Fan favorites like Halo 5: Guardians and Lego Batman are in the lineup, but for the most part Xbox Game Pass lets you play older games. Considering that a physical copy of a game typically costs $70 or more, a flat fee for unlimited play is a pretty good deal. Other popular games from the 100+ title library include Payday 2, NBA 2K16 and Soulcalibur II, writes Engadget.
To join Xbox Game Pass, you need an Xbox One. In addition to unlimited play and downloads, members also enjoy discounts on full purchases, as well as game add-ons.
