If you haven’t yet tried an e-book reader, now is the time to do it. We know, we know, book purists feel like using an e-book isn’t the same as reading a physical book. It doesn’t include a trip to the bookstore or the library, you can’t feel the weight of the book in your hands, and you may feel like you’re missing out on the connection between physically turning a page and having the story in front of you come to life. We were also once skeptical about making the change to e-books. But now that we have, we see that there is room for all types of books in our lives.

Using an e-book doesn’t mean you have to stop using traditional books, it just means that you’re someone who loves stories and convenience. It really doesn’t get more convenient than an e-book. You can store dozens and sometimes up to hundreds of books on your e-reader at once, giving you a huge personal library to choose from whether you’re at home, on your daily commute, or taking a well deserved vacation. E-books are often less expensive than traditional books, and there are many libraries that now offer e-book options.

And just because you have an e- reader, that doesn’t mean you can’t spend hours casually perusing your local bookstore. You need ideas of what e-books to buy, right?

Now that we have convinced you to make the transition to the wonderful world of e-books, we should also mention that having a great light will make your reading experience even better. While some of the readers do come with lights built-in, there are models that do not. But that doesn’t mean it’s time to abandon your e-reader. It just means you have to treat it more like a traditional book and supply your own light. Once again, we’ve got you covered.

1. Swivel Light by French Bull

The Swivel Light by French Bull Connects directly to your e-reader, with the light running across the top of your book with an arm that swivels out when you need light and securely back in and out of the way when not in use. Our team loves that the light is compact and weighs only 8 ounces, which means it doesn’t add much bulk to your already light the reader. This is important considering many people use the readers as a way to cut down on weight, especially when traveling. The downside of the light is that it takes two AA batteries, and you’ll want to have an extra set on hand when traveling in case your batteries run out.

2. Belkin Clip-On Reading Light for Kindle

The Belkin Clip-On Reading Light for Kindle is designed specifically for the Kindle, but will fit most e-readers. The light can clip on to the Kindle with or without a case on it and the light can also stand alone, which makes it more versatile, with the option to use it simply as an extra light source. The light uses three LED lights and offers two brightness settings, as well as a fully adjustable neck that allows the user to position the light anyway they like. When not in use, the lamp head fits into the clip, making for easy storage.

The LOAMO Book Light is the most affordable option on our list and the most versatile. The LOAMO can easily clip onto e-readers, traditional books, side tables, and just about anything that has an area that fits the light’s ultra-wide clip. The clip can be used on an e-reader alone or on a case, with a flexible gooseneck that can be angled in any direction. The LOAMO only has one LED light and it does require three AAA batteries, but the light is energy efficient and can last for hours.

The Ozeri Kandle LED Reading Light is powered by three ultrabright LED lights that have a sensor that signals when to automatically turn off when the light is not in use, ensuring the battery on the light can last for hours. The WideLip design is specifically made to fit the Kindle, the Sony Reader and other e-books, providing a great source of light without blocking the screen.
