Yes, it’s possible to ask your digital assistant gal pal to help you organize a steaming hot pizza right to your door. There is no need to look up phone numbers, make a call, wait on hold or spell out your address again. Here’s what you need to know.

To get this magical pizza assistance, you’ll need one of Amazon’s smart speakers. An Amazon Echo Device comes with a speaker, and some have screens to provide visual assistance.

Both Pizza Hut and Papa John’s had Alexa Skills at one time, which goes back to about 2016. Sadly both have discontinued these Alexa Skills, but no information has been provided about why. Perhaps these were just skills that humans in 2016 weren’t ready for and thus didn’t embrace enough to make it worthwhile. Who knows, as this type of interaction with companies gains awareness and popularity, these skills might come back, with even more to follow.
