It’s not an exaggeration to say that we’ve written about thousands of deals over the course of 2021. SPY is a review and discovery platform, and in addition to writing about the latest product releases, we also spend a lot of time covering the latest deals from retailers like Nordstrom, Amazon, Walmart and Frontgate. And all throughout 2021, there’s been one particular discount that our readers have been most excited about: AirPods deals.
That’s because it’s been a great year to score deals on AirPods, and on Apple products in general.
Amazon, Best Buy, Target and Walmart absolutely slashed prices on both AirPods and AirPods Pro wireless earbuds in 2021. In fact, the prices got so low that speculation was rampant that Apple was on the verge of releasing a new set of earbuds. The thinking was, the retailers wouldn’t be dumping their inventory unless there was a major new product launch coming up.
And we were right! Recently, Apple unveiled the newest product in the AirPods family, the third-generation AirPods. These new earbuds offer six hours of playback on a single charge, sweat and water-resistance, a more comfortable design and improved audio in the form of spatial audio.
And with Black Friday 2021 right around the corner, we’re very eager to see if Amazon and other retailers end up discounting this product. We don’t know if this will happen or not, but we’re very excited to find out. This wouldn’t be the first time a major retailer dropped prices on a brand new Apple product, as we saw Walmart drop prices on the new iPad before it was even officially released! How else could they undercut Amazon and Best Buy?
So while we can’t promise the Third-Generation AirPods will be on sale next week, we’d recommend checking back to find out. In the meantime, the AirPods Max headphones, AirPods Pro, and Second-Generation AirPods are already on sale. Based on how often these latter products have been discounted at various points in 2021, we also expect them to be further discounted on Black Friday-Cyber Monday, and you won’t want to miss out if these products sell out.
