* Rose McGowan’s new book, Brave, is a no-holds-barred memoir about her turbulent life
* Provides a detailed account of her alleged assault and the resulting aftermath
* The book’s release is accompanied by Citizen Rose, a documentary following the actress

With the recent explosion of the #MeToo movement, and without doubt, a raised awareness of the unsettling misogyny of Hollywood, it’s no surprise that a tell-all book from one of the inspiring ladies behind the monumental shift has been receiving rave reviews. Brave by Rose McGowan is a no-holds-barred look at a life fraught with sadness and controversy.

The book details a number of significant events throughout McGowan’s life. Perhaps none of these is more important (or relevant) than the first time she met Harvey Weinstein, and the pair’s following encounters. Those very encounters would eventually lead to McGowan accusing Weinstein of sexual assault. McGowan details the events leading up to, during and following the incident which has drawn so much public interest. The actress also provides an insight into exactly how she felt and acted during those understandably tough periods.

Brave goes on to explain the importance of initiatives like the #MeToo movement, and the major role the Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) must play in protecting women and children from sexual assault and the other horrendous experiences McGowan endured at the hands of the “Hollywood Machine.”

The release of Brave has also been accompanied by a five-part series called Citizen Rose . This documentary follows McGowan to provide further insight into the role she has played in the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements.

Stream: Citizen Rose

All in all, Brave not only helps shed light on Hollywood’s most current struggle, the memoir/manifesto also gives readers a front row seat to the ups and downs of the life of Rose McGowan, one of Hollywood’s most inspiring, unique and, of course, brave women.
