How to Build Your Own Droid

* Reconfigurable modular electronic droids
* All parts and batteries included
* Comes with an app to teach your droid “tricks”

This Star Wars Droid Inventor kit lets kids build their own droids. A great activity for inventive and curious kids, it facilitates creativity and offers the chance for kids to tinker with remote control components and make cool Star Wars figures.

The reconfigurable droids come with all needed parts, including batteries. They even include stickers and decals. The kit is based around a modular R2-D2 form, but it allows kids to swap out electronic blocks and create new droids, too.

This Star Wars toy also comes with an app, compatible with iPhone and Android OS. The Droid Inventor app includes games and challenges, plus instructions for “teaching” your droid new tricks such as head spins and self-navigation.

A surprisingly advanced bundle of features makes the build-it yourself droid kit highly entertaining and it’s great for teamwork and cooperation, too. Thanks to the step-by-step instructions, kids can get started easily, building the pictured R2D2 form, but the fun doesn’t stop once they’ve mastered the basics.

The Droid Inventor Kit and app allow for far more advanced progress in the ways of the droid. Who knows, this kit may inspire some budding Star Wars fans to learn about modular electronics and launch careers working in robotics, building our future droid helpers. Let’s just hope they stick with the Star Wars theme rather than taking after 2001: A Space Odyssey and making some Hal-9000 to lord it over us all.
