Celebrate National Tequila Day With a Literary Spin

* Today is National Tequila Day
* Celebrate with this literary-inspired cocktail book
* Cocktail recipes, drinking games and literary commentary

Today is National Tequila Day. If that simple statement isn’t a good enough excuse to enjoy some tequila, we found another reason. “Tequila Mockingbird: Cocktails With a Literary Twist” is an illustrated book containing recipes for over 65 tasty cocktails– all themed around literary classics. Not a fan of tequila? It has a variety of cocktails options, including vodka-based drinks like The Pitcher of Dorian Grey Goose. There are also dark liquor concoctions like A Rum of One’s Own.

Author and craft cocktail connoisseur Tim Federle promises that even if you didn’t earn a B.A. in English Literature, you’ll be drinking like you did. “Tequila Mockingbird” isn’t simply a cocktail recipe book or bartender how-to guide. It’s also adorned with beautiful illustrations and filled with insightful commentary on some of the greatest works in the literary canon–and outside of it.

Federle’s book includes drinking game ideas, as well as meal and snack suggestions to pair with the bookish cocktails. While you’ll have plenty of options as it pertains to which spirits you’ll mix, we suggest the classic Tequila Mockingbird or the Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margarita. It’s National Tequila Day, after all.
