The decades-old feud between president-elect Donald Trump and Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter erupted yet again when the magazine published a scathing review of Trump Grill, saying it could be, “the worst restaurant in America.” The pair have publicly traded barbs ever since Carter called Trump a “short-fingered vulgarian” in the 80s.
Trump fired back to the restaurant review, Tweeting: “Has anyone looked at the really poor numbers of @VanityFairMagazine. Way down, big trouble, dead! Graydon Carter, no talent, will be out!” In the aftermath, Vanity Fair had its biggest subscription sales day ever, and for good reason. Subscribers get 12 print issues delivered monthly, plus full access to the digital edition for only $15. That’s less than the $24 it costs for a bottle of 2015 Viognier from Trump Winery.
With Trump set to place his hand upon the Bible and swear the oath of office in less than a month, Vanity Fair readers are poised for the ultimate showdown between pompous power and editorial snark. If there’s a downtrodden liberal on your holiday shopping list, a Vanity Fair All Access subscription will surely bring much needed levity to these (perceived) darkest of days.
