* Fashion accessories are becoming more quirky this summer
* Design houses like Gucci and Moschino are blurring lines between pop art and fashion
* These crazy pieces are surprisingly wearable
Accessories often give us more room for experimentation with our look, when compared to apparel. But some of the latest trends sprouting up this season blur the line between playful and just plain kooky.
With many hip designers taking over at luxury design houses (think Alessandro Michele for Gucci and Jeremy Scott for Moschino), high-end fashion has gotten a little bit less fussy, and a little bit more fun. Even legendary designer Karl Lagerfeld included unexpected accessories, like the retro fanny pack, into his latest collection for Chanel.
And, while some of these pieces are “crazy,” they’re actually surprisingly wearable. You’ll wind up reaching for these striking accessories much more than you’d think.
1. Tiger Face Print Scarf
This bubblegum-hued silk scarf marries the worlds of luxury Italian fashion with vivid pop art references, resulting in a truly fierce neck accessory. One of Alessandro Michele’s most beloved print motifs, this tiger print can be draped across the shoulder for a bold look or tied around the neck for subtle pop of pink.

2. Glow in The Dark iPhone Case
Stella McCartney is known for designing elegant, yet wearable luxury fashion pieces–but not necessarily for quirky and cartoonish tech accessories. So naturally, this glow in the dark ghost case certainly took us by surprise. Rendered with lime green silicone, this ghost-shaped phone cover is the ultimate Instagrammable design that will shine when the sun goes down. An added bonus? You’ll never lose your phone in your over-sized handbag when rummaging through its contents.

3. Men’s Gucci Lion head Ring
This bold ring is molded in the shape of a lion’s head, constructed with black coated steal. The rose pearl encased in the lion’s mouth adds sharp contrast to this one-of-a-kind piece. While Gucci has shown a recurring interest in safari animal themes in recent years, this piece of jewelry takes the obsession to a new level.

4. Circle Frame Sunglasses With Square Lenses
These space-age sunglasses extend the retro eyewear trend into a conceptual art piece, with an unusual juxtaposition of circular white frames and opaque square lenses. Designed by Slow and Steady Wins the Race, these shades reflect the label’s reductive yet, avant garde aesthetic.

5. Pill Capsule Clutch Bag
This controversial handbag caused quite a stir after its retail drop late last year, but you can still find Moschino’s infamous clutch if you’re in the market for a truly eye-catching piece this summer. Adorned with 3-dimensional capsules throughout, this metallic silver wristlet clutch is a part of the label’s (pun-intended) “capsule collection.”

6. Gucci Studded Leather Belt
Upon first glance, this star motif leather belt by Gucci almost looks like it could be part of a cowgirl or police-themed Halloween costume bundle, with its novelty star pendant. But look a little closer, and you’ll see that while this studded belt may have some serious character, its luxe construction and acute attention to detail looks just as polished and upscale as it does spirited.

7. Kate Spade Taco Menu Scarf
The tradition of “Taco Tuesday” endures with this sartorial homage to the festive food. Kate Spade now offers taco lovers a new way to express their admiration to the Mexican staple, with this graphic scarf depicting illustrations of tacos and common menu items you’d likely find at your favorite Mexican food restaurant.

8. Bando Gym Bag
Slightly crazy, yet slightly realistic, this pale pink gym bag by Bando spells out what all of us are likely thinking after an intense session at the gym or a particularly lengthy spin class. And while post-work snacks are supposed to be nutritious, sometimes dreaming of a slice of pizza as a post-workout reward or toting around extra-cute gym gear gives us the motivation we need to actually get to the gym instead of taking a nap.

9. Saint Laurent Mink Sunglasses
Fur embellished accessories and pom pom charms have remained one of the most enduring trends in fashion over the past couple of years, but these Saint Laurent sunglasses reinterpret the trend with these wacky shades. Like ear muffs for your temples, these mink-lined aviators will definitely add some texture to your look and turn some heads.

10. Fendi Fur Handbag Strap
Colorful fur is apparently spilling into all sectors of fashion accessories, including in the new handbag strap trend. This detachable bag strap features four mink fur pom-pom charms in graduated blue shades against a navy blue leather base. The silver hooks attach to most clutch and mini bags for those dull days when you’re craving a bit more flair.
