More Proof That 90s Fashion is Making a Major Comeback

* 1990s fashion trends are resurfacing in 2017
* Opening Ceremony released a collection with iconic brand, Esprit
* Other 90s inspired accessories have been spotted on Kendall and Kylie Jenner, among others

When it comes to fashion’s ever-changing trends, what comes around goes around. When your mother told you to hold onto your beloved bell bottoms or lacy slips dresses, we probably should’ve listened, because fashion is indeed, cyclical. If you were alive and well in the 90s, many of the sartorial trends circulating throughout fashion blogs and celebrity Instagram accounts these days are reminiscent of the era’s best fashion inventions, long before “throwback Thursdays” ever existed.

In the past year, mom jeans constructed with rigid, non-stretch denim have become pervasive on celebrity outings and fashion blogs, with rises inching higher up the waist and washes becoming lighter and more faded as the year proceeds.

There’s also the return of monogrammed accessories. Kendall Jenner confirmed the trend’s resurgence, debuting its latest iteration in the form of a Louis Vuitton monogrammed mini backpack during a recent outing.

And, luxury fashion isn’t the only area of the era’s fashion that is undergoing a resurrection. Opening Ceremony has launched a “sequel” collaboration collection with iconic 80s-90s brand, Esprit. Opening Ceremony x Esprit initially launched their collaboration line last Fall, but has returned with new items updated for spring, available for both men and women.

Their instantly-recognizable logo reads across many of the items front and center, while other pieces feature the brand’s quintessentially 90s prints including the favorite among grunge culture — daisy florals. Other print motifs in the collection include sunflower patches appliqued on crew-neck sweatshirts and the brand’s infamous two-piece set featuring their sporty striped print. Best of all, if a monogrammed LV mini backpack seems a bit too flashy for your taste, Opening Ceremony x Esprit offers another 1990s inspired bag alternative—a paisley print fanny pack in two different color options to really help capture that TBT style.
