* The latest footwear trend is an old school favorite: cowboy boots
* These are the most solid, well-reviewed pairs you can order right now
* How to wear them with everyday outfits
Cowboy boots are officially the most unexpected footwear trend of the year. Cutting-edge brands like Kanye’s Yeezy Season 5, Hood by Air, and Raf Simons’ collection for Calvin Klein have masterfully worked the classic western boot into modern streetwear. We’re also seeing style influencers like Luka Sabbat showing us how to rock the boots with modern outfits.
In the midst of an ever-exploding sneaker market, the cowboy boot trend comes as a refreshing surprise. It’s definitely worth giving a shot this year, but finding the right boot can be tricky.
We rounded up these ten pairs because they’re all a little more modern, allowing you to wear them with jeans on the ranch, or with everyday office clothes too.
For Women:
1. J. Adams Ankle Boot
J. Adams’ take on the cowboy boot combines the western look with casual boho vibes via fringes, suede, and a lower top. They look great when paired with a casual dress, but can also work well with jeans and a blouse at work.
2. Charles Albert Modern Cowboy Boot
These are another good choice if you want something more casual that you can knock around. They have a distressed look that adds some texture to your outfit, and a classic western shape that’s easy to pair with everything from jeans and a simple sweater to a summer dress.
3. Ariat Pedrena Paddock Boot
These Ariat Pedrena boots combine elements from chukkas, combat boots, and cowboy boots for a distinct, but somehow equally subtle design. They’re a little more casual, making them ideal for low-key offices.

4. BØRN Campbell Boot
Cowboy boot might be a bit of a stretch for these suede knee-high boots from BØRN, but they definitely have a western feel. They’re closer to an equestrian boot, and share the same reliable durability, but look great when dressed up in chic, modern office attire. (Pictured below in Gray Suede).

5. Frye Cara Tall
Fun fact: The Frye Company has been in operation 1863, making it the oldest shoe company in the U.S. They’ve been making cowboy boots for over 150 years, and their modern boot features the same great quality. They’re easy to style creatively, but also look great with a pair of jeans and a fresh button-up.

For Men:
6. Laredo Trucker Boot
It’s hard to beat the classic look of these Laredo boots. Along with the timeless shape, they have signature western accents like decorative stitching and an oiled leather upper. We recommend beating them up a little and wearing them with nice jeans and a tee, or going the complete opposite route by keeping them polished and sporting them with your favorite suit.
7. Ariat Heritage Cowboy Boot
These Ariats are a slightly more toned-down cowboy boot with plain leather, a soft square toe, and a lower top. They make a great chelsea boot replacement, and look best with slim jeans and a button-up shirt for the office or a night out.
8. Massimo Matteo Chelsea Wing Boot
Massimo Matteo does a nice job of elevating the western boot with a wing-toe design. These make a great office shoe upgrade, and also feature a rubber sole that makes walking in them more comfortable.

9. Durango RD510
The classic motorcycle boot is a direct relative of the cowboy boot, and they’re also getting some attention in the fashion world this year. We recommend these ones form Durango because they’re very high-quality, and have a timeless design that’s easy to wear with casual looks.

10. Frye Duke Roper
Frye’s Duke Roper boot is one of our favorites. They have the soul of a cowboy boot, and a minimal, modern design that make it very wearable. Try them with crisp jeans, a button-up, and a jacket for an on-trend western-inspired office outfit.
