* Men’s must-haves for the stylish, eco-conscious consumer
* From Patagonia, United by Blue, and Alternative Apparel
* Eco-apparel that can be worn in the outdoors and the city
Futuristic February is in full swing and we are celebrating by joining the movement created by vegan Instagrammers and the shop owners of Sustainable Duo—who practice zero-waste. The month-long challenge is designed to inspire consumers to shop more conscientiously and document the amount of waste (bags, clothing tags, paper etc.) they accrue and then post a photo of their waste using the hashtag #FuturisticFebruary on the 28th. We wanted to encourage people to participate in the challenge by showcasing eco-friendly clothing brands that are contributing to less waste and more sustainable practices while offering well-designed and functional products for city slickers and outdoorsmen alike.
With widely known brands like Patagonia setting the standard for social responsibility in their production by giving a portion of sales to environmental groups, crafting clothes that last longer as well as be recyclable when you are done, we can see firsthand what this movement can achieve. Then there are smaller companies like Tentree, who plant ten trees around the globe each time one of their items is sold and their use of recycled plastic bottles to create products utilizes single-use materials.
We remind you to shop with mindful brands like these whose efforts aim to reduce waste and whose gear is designed to carry you through each season with ease.
1. Tentree Arthur Button-Up Shirt
Every man needs a clean-lined button-up as a staple in their wardrobe. This meteorite-colored collared shirt is made with organic cotton for a breathable yet strong-woven fabric. We also love Tentree’s brand ethos that supports the environment without ever sacrificing style.
2. United By Blue – Mariner Beanie
Beanie season is in! And can you really ever have enough skull caps? The 100% recycled polyester beanie from United by Blue will let you show off a little with the orange-brown colorway and it might help start up a great convo so you can tell people about what this hat represents: sustainability and less waste for the planet.
3. Outdoor Khaki Pants
Patagonia’s classic khaki pants are made from nylon and elastic to ensure you have enough movement when trekking through the outdoors. With an incredible price point from the rather high-priced brand, these are an obvious choice that can take you from the woods to daytime city events seamlessly when paired with a crewneck or jacket.
4. Alternative Apparel Eco-Fleece Sweatshirt
This everyday crewneck from Alternative Apparel is designed with its unique eco-fleece made from recycled and organic materials. With a ribbed neck and hem bands, you can serve a look of both intention and effortless cool.
5. Tentree Men’s Hoodie
The graphic on this navy hoodie is the perfect opportunity to share the brand’s efforts of reforestation by planting 10 trees for every product sold. Not to mention, this garment can be layered for warmth in the winter months and worn casually as spring rolls around.
