The best hoodies are comfortable and cool, and the best hoodie brands know to stick to those two essentials.
Whether you’re looking for something baggy and casual or something more fitting and sophisticated, the best hoodie brands will make sure you’re ready for couch-lounging or going for that much-needed jog.
Though the best hoodie is simply the one you love wearing, there are better hoodie brands to shop from in terms of quality and style. Seeing as we’ve worn hoodies from dozens of brands over the years, we know a thing or two about the best hoodie brands.
While we’re willing to bet you won’t agree with all of our favorite hoodies, we know you’ll find something to like among our picks below because we’ve worn them all and know they deliver.
So check out our list of the best hoodie brands and hoodies below and give your tried-and-true hoodie a break. In our opinion, whatever your choice, you won’t go wrong with any of the following hoodies.
Yup, unsurprisingly, Nike is one of the best hoodie brands. Who would’ve thought? But predictable or not, Nike absolutely deserves its place on this list for its consistent history of producing quality hoodies backed up by a level of cool that can only be attained when the best athletes and entertainers in the world wear them.
The Men’s Nike Sportswear Club Full Zip-Up Hoodie is made from a soft fleece and is cut for a slim fit for effortless comfort and style.
2. Feat Clothing
If the best hoodie brands were decided on softness and comfort alone, Feat would win in a landslide.
The Feat BlanketBlend Hoodie is the softest hoodie you’ve never heard of. It uses a cotton-polyester fabric that’s finished with a mysterious rare yarn and put through what Feat calls a ButterWash process. While those vagaries leave a lot to be desired in terms of just what the heck Feat is doing to this hoodie, you won’t give a damn when you put it on.
And even if this hoodie wasn’t the absolute softest, the nice details — the slim fit, double-lined hood and metal-tipped laces — will still make it worth your money. In fact, we loved it so much we gave Feat’s Blanket Hoodie the award for Best Hoodie of 2020 in our SPY 2020 Man Awards.
3. Flint and Tinder
Nobody builds clothes to last like Flint and Tinder and the best example of that is the Flint and Tinder 10-Year Hoodie.
The brand makes its signature product with a heavy-duty 23-ounce fleece and heavy-duty zippers that are cut to a slim, flattering fit and sewn with reinforced seams. Details like the double-lined hood, inner chest pocket and metal-tipped drawcords tie everything together, resulting in a hoodie that survives the test of time.
And if you somehow manage to rip, tear or otherwise wreck your hoodie within the 10-year period after purchase, send it to Flint and Tinder and it’ll repair the hoodie for you.
On the strength and durability of the 10-Year Hoodie alone, Flint & Tinder is definitely one of the best hoodie brands.
It wasn’t always a foregone conclusion that sports apparel companies would take over the hoodie game, but Nike and, of course, Adidas have done more than any other companies to produce and popularize hoodies. If Nike is one of the best hoodie brands, then Adidas is too.
For a classic Adidas hoodie, we love the Adidas Men’s Essentials 3-Stripes Pullover Hoodie in grey with black stripes. It’s soft, fits well but isn’t too snug, features an Adidas print on the front and has the trademark three stripes running from the shoulders to the sleeves.
Everlane set out to take over everyday basics and that included making outstanding hoodies.
The French Terry Hoodie, part of Everlane’s Uniform collection, is durable and built for everyday living as promised. It’s made from 100% cotton, wash-tested for strength, pilling, fading and shrinkage and features triple-needle coverstitching along the seams.
Everlane’s so confident in its Uniform clothes that it’ll replace any of them, including its hoodie, up to a year after purchase if they develop holes or other defects. It’s no 10-Year Hoodie, but that guarantee still makes Everlane one of the best hoodie brands.
6. Mack Weldon
For another great brand in the business of French terry hoodies, who else but Mack Weldon? Mack Weldon not only makes some of the best sweatpants, but it also makes some of the best hoodies.
Like the Ace Sweatpant, the Ace Hooded Sweatshirt uses a French terry fabric with a little bit of stretch for peak comfort and durability. A tailored fit, ribbed cuffs and waist, welt-zip pockets and a double-lined hood complete the package for one all-around great hoodie.
More than any other brand on this list, Obey is iconic. It’s not just one of the best hoodie brands. It’s one of the best brands, period. Sure the swoosh and three stripes might be more widely known, but Obey’s signature Eyes Icon logo commands your attention when you see it in a way few other brands can do.
But Obey’s popularity and streetwear cred mean the coolest hoodies are frequently sold out. Some are still available though, including the low-key cool Organic Icon Pullover Hood. It’s made from an organic cotton terry fleece in a roomy regular fit, with a small Eyes Icon on the front.
8. Carhartt WIP
Carhartt WIP marries workwear and streetwear together better than almost any other company. The brand’s dungarees and other work-forward streetwear may be expensive and hard to come by, but Carhartt WIP makes lots of great sweatshirts and hoodies too.
The Car-Lux Hooded Jacket stands out in the hoodie crowd. The 50-50 cotton-polyester isolation performance fabric traps heat in the body and gives the hoodie a unique structured look. And then there’s the little logo patch stitched on the front pocket so everyone knows what you’re repping.
If there’s one hoodie we see everywhere, it’s the Uniqlo Dry Stretch Sweat Full-Zip Hoodie. And we understand why because we own it. It’s fitted but stretchy, dries quickly, has three pockets, is relatively cheap, comes in multiple colors and generally looks modern and trendy.
Uniqlo makes quality, modern basics, but if we’re judging hoodie brands on how many people we actually see wearing their hoodies, Uniqlo’s definitely one of the best hoodie brands.
The future of fashion is hard to predict and even harder to actually make. How does one “advance” the hoodie, something that’s already so simple? While hoodie brands are always figuring that out, Rhone has a very clear idea of what it thinks a hoodie can be and that is firmly in the activewear direction.
Rhone’s carved out a nice slice of the activewear market with its sleek, stretchy, exercise-friendly apparel and its hoodie is no exception. The Reign Hoodie uses nylon, polyester and spandex for plenty of stretch in a fitted design. This hoodie also got Rhone’s GOLDFUSION fabric treatment, which helps improve color retention and odor control and decrease drying time.
So Rhone might not be the best hoodie brand right now, but it’s going to be one of the best hoodie brands of the future.
