* Winter-ready sneakers from Nike, Vans, and more
* Classic styles with cold-weather upgrades like fleece lining
* Kicks that go with layers and winter colors
Sneakers are the biggest thing in fashion right now, and winter shouldn’t stop you from rocking a great pair. Although sneakers are traditionally a warm-weather shoe, we found a few pairs of classic sneakers that work just as well during the cold months. They feature enough material to keep you warm, and timeless retro styles to keep you cool.
1. Polo Ralph Lauren Thorton
These kicks showcase a classic sneaker silhouette, but Polo has made them a little cozier and more wintery with a Buffalo plaid design. It gives them a unique look and makes them great for casual outings in the cold.
2. Converse Chuck 70 Plaid
Converse are always a good idea, but we’re especially into these plaid hi-tops. The colorway and material make them pair better with dark winter layers, and it also adds a little warmth.
3. Converse Chuck Taylor Hiker Boot
Even if it’s seriously cold where you live, you can still rock sneakers. These Chucks are as close as a sneaker can get to being, well, not a sneaker, as they feature a fleece lining and a tough leather upper.
4. Nike Classic Cortez Leather
Fun fact: the Nike Cortez is (sort of) waterproof. It’ll handle light drizzles and occasional puddles much better than most other sneakers, and it’ll look great all the way through summer.
5. Reebok Lifestyle Classic Leather
Another great retro sneaker we’re eyeing this winter is the Reebok classic. They’ve seen a huge comeback lately, and we think it looks especially good during the winter with this black leather upper and gum sole.
6. Vans SK8-Hi MTE
Vans’ MTE line upgrades a handful of their classics with materials that can handle the elements. These SK8 MTEs feature a heat retention layer between the sockliner and the outsole, real traction, and leather uppers treated with Scotchguard for waterproofing.
7. Superga 2750 Suefurw
These Supergas feature a sturdy suede upper, a fleece lining, and a very versatile style. We recommend wearing them with classic essentials like jeans and hoodies while running errands or just lounging at home.
8. Frye Lena Slip-On
If you’re looking for a ‘night out’ kind of sneaker that works in the winter, check out these Frye slip-ons. They’re a little chunkier (so you can wear them with more clothes), and they have a unique tumbled Italian leather upper.
