Crazy Cleats: 9 Wacky Ways to Workout on the Football Field

* Cam Newton’s custom cleats from last season are now available in limited quantities
* Just in time for football season
* If loud cleats aren’t your thing, we’ve selected a few subdued models as well

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton may be best known for his accomplishments on the football field, but his outgoing personality, pointed opinions, and sartorial style off the field are just as notable.

After signing with Under Armor in 2011, Newton and Under Armour have collaborated on a number of wacky football cleats over the years, but it wasn’t until last season when things got a bit wild. For instance, during pre-game warmups in Minnesota, Newton sported a pair of custom Paisley-themed cleats in honor of Prince. And before a game against New Orleans, Newton donned a pair of Big Easy inspired black and white striped cleats with gold flour-de-lis-esque embellishments. And a fox tail.

And now you can buy a handful of Newton’s custom cleats for your own football antics. Don’t forget, Thanksgiving is only two months away meaning you’ve just enough time to get ready for that annual turkey day football game.

6. UA C1N MC — Midas Touch

7. UA C1N MC — High Society

What’s with the fox tail, you ask? The story goes that Newton read about how Native Americans would wear the animal pelts as headdresses in order to absorb the qualities of said animal. He thought that by wearing a fox tail, he’d be able to get out of sticky situations. Buy these cleats and you be the judge.

9. UA Highlight MC 2.0 BOA

Not a Cam Newton but an interesting one nonetheless. The MC 2.0 BOA is named after the BOA lacing system that you might have first seen on snowboarding boots. It’s touted as “a precision closure system” that’s built directly into the cleats for a “quick, customizable, and totally consistent” fit.
