Converse & Carhartt WIP Collaborated on New Chucks, and We’re In Love With These Sneakers

Spy Finds is a weekly series that unveils the coolest products that you haven’t heard of until now. Each product is curated by our editors who want to help you discover cool finds you didn’t know you needed.

Sometimes two beautiful, beloved things come together and create something fantastic. No, we’re not talking about when your parents created you, dear reader, although we’re sure that description also fits. Today, we’re discussing the collaboration between two classic American brands that have joined forces to bring us sneakers that are perfect for 2021. We’re talking about the latest Carhartt WIP x Converse 70 Hi Icons. The new Chuck sneakers are being released on Thursday, February at 10:00 a.m. EST.

These no-fuss sneakers are the epitome of 2021 cool — hip, practical and unpretentious. They’re exactly the type of durable, everyday sneakers we need in our lives right now. Best of all, they’re priced at $115, which is a more-than-reasonable price for a limited-edition sneaker release like this.

Converse’s Chuck Taylor shoes have been a staple in wardrobes, locker rooms and skate parks for decades at this point, not unlike the classic Carhartt beanie. (SPY readers may remember our ode to this beloved beanie.) Collaborations between popular fashion brands are extremely trendy at the moment, and we were excited to check out the results of this particular All-American partnership.

Converse loves to collaborate with kindred brands like Carhartt, and this latest release from Converse x Carhartt WIP (the work wear brand’s “Work in Progress” line) continues the trend. This is just the latest installment of a few collaborations the two brands have done in the past, each one highlighting and intertwining both brands’ respective DNAs together.

Both shoes feature the classic Converse design, but upon closer inspection, Carhartt’s influence is all over these Chuck sneakers. The woodland camouflage print reflects a staple in Carhartt WIP’s collections dating back to the 1990s, while the Hamilton Brown canvas shoe matches classic Carhartt WIP garments like the double knee pant.

The construction and quality of the shoes is solid, too. The sneakers combine the tough, hardwearing products made by Carhartt WIP and the classic, familiar design of Chucks. The upper canvas of the shoe is durable and the OrthoLite insole adds comfort. The shoes also feature a vintage Converse logo patch on the inner ankle.
