* Perfect layer for cool summer nights
* Made from a Peruvian cotton blend
* Medium weight knit
Yes, it’s officially summer, but that doesn’t mean you should pass up on a cozy shirt jacket (a.k.a. a shacket), like this one from Billy Reid. After all, you’re bound to spend a night or two along the coast, right?
There are a ton of things to love about the Henson Shirt Jacket but what initially grabbed our attention was the look of the double-faced herringbone, which Billy Reid says is made from a Peruvian cotton-poly blend. It just looks so incredibly comfortable, right? There’s also the ribbed bomber-style collar, the horn buttons, on-seam pockets and the carbon blue color, which lends itself to mixing and matching with a variety of colors.
What’s more impressive about the Henson shacket is Billy Reid’s story. After Reid won the CFDA’s Best New Menswear Designer award for 2001, he had to shut down his eponymous line, William Reid, due to the economic downturn after the events of 9/11. But in 2004, Reid rebooted himself and founded his namesake label Billy Reid, and in 2010 he won GQ/CFDA’s Best New Menswear Designer Award, as well as the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award. Two years later, Reid claimed CFDA’s Menswear Designer of the Year in 2012.
With European workwear looks and cozy vibes, the Henson Shirt Jacket is sure to become a staple in anyone’s wardrobe, from the dog days of summer and well into the fall.
