* The English heritage menswear label is better than ever
* Worn by the likes of Errol Flynn, Michael Caine and Mick Jagger
* New collection designed in collaboration with David Beckham
First made famous in the 30s with Hollywood’s approval of the cricket sweater and later in the 60s and 70s by the likes of the Rolling Stones, British menswear label Kent & Curwen has always benefited from the celebrity co-sign, and rightfully so. So much so that in recent years one of the world’s biggest sports stars became a partner to help guide the English heritage brand into a more modern world. Perhaps you’ve heard of David Beckham?
There’s no disputing that Beckham, world famous footballer, is and has been a very fashionable chap. Sure, he had some sartorial stumbles as a young man, but for the last decade he’s been the poster child for a more suave and sophisticated man. So when news broke back in late 2015 that he would be partnering with Kent & Curwen, the only real surprise was that it had taken him so long to dive into the deep end.
Kent & Curwen Appliquéd Distressed Cotton-Jersey T-Shirt
The first collection under Beckham and creative director Daniel Kearns received rave reviews and since then, the duo have been on an absolute tear.
Once such piece from the most recent collection is the Rose 1926 Regular Tee. Made from a soft cotton jersey knit for that worn-in feeling, the Rose features an appliquéd embroidered Rose of England patch on the chest. It’s a slim-fit staple with a subtle splash of style. If this piece is any indication of what’s to come in later collections from Kent & Curwen, you’d best start paying attention now.
