I don’t know anyone who doesn’t enjoy the excitement of getting a package in the mail — especially when it contains something new to add to your wardrobe. But with that being said, as someone who’s never used a clothing subscription service — or any subscription service for that matter — before, I find the idea of getting clothing and accessories “curated” by someone else slightly unappealing. While I understand the thrill of a surprise, I tend to be the type of girl who knows what she wants to wear, and I genuinely enjoy the hunt of discovering new pieces to add to my closet.
As a long time fan of Frank And Oak’s elevated yet timeless fashion staples, I was curious about how the brand’s new subscription service Style Plan might be different than other monthly fashion subscription box services in the ever-expanding market today.

WHAT IS FRANK AND OAK?
Headquartered in Canada, Frank And Oak’s timeless designs fall under the category of elevated fashion basics that transcend the fickle cycle of fashion trends, yet each piece is designed with contemporary silhouettes, interesting prints, and fresh color palettes. Their collections blend references from current trends and always have universally flattering cuts, which unlike many other fashion brands, aren’t destined to hit the clearance rack in a month or two when the next big craze rolls in. They release limited-edition collections rather mass produced items that you’ll see everyone wearing wherever you go.
Best of all, Frank And Oak’s pieces are affordably priced and made with integrity. The brand is committed to reducing the carbon footprint, and hold sustainability and ethical practices as their core values in their design process, fabrication sourcing, hiring their employees, manufacturing, and even their packaging.
In addition to their expanding endeavors focused on protecting the environment and the rights of employees and business partners with whom they work with, Frank And Oak also donates a portion of sales to the human rights charity, Equitas, and works with local manufacturers to support underprivileged women.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
What I love about Style Plan is that you’re in control of what ends up at your doorstep. Their expert editors and stylists submit a curated selection of pieces for you to view online each month, and you can edit their suggestions to ensure you’re only getting what you like in your package. There’s no monthly fee aside from a $25 dollar styling charge for each box. This small fee gets credited to any of the items you decide to keep. Each box is signed by the stylist who packed your order, giving it a personalized touch that you just don’t get with online shopping.
THE PERKS
If you hate shopping in IRL or navigating through endless styles and distracting merchandising online, Style Plan is a great solution because not only are all of their items fool-proof and flattering, but you also get to try everything on in the comfort of your own home, so you can avoid the misleading “skinny mirrors” in your local department store. Style Plan members also have access to styles that haven’t yet been released to the public, so you can get your hands on items from their limited-edition collections before they sell out of your size. Members also get to save a generous 20% off orders, and get free shipping and hassle-free returns – a huge perk compared to people who shop normally on the site.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (A.K.A. RETURN POLICY)
Whether you’re shopping at a brick and mortar or online, making returns is usually a hassle. Frank And Oak makes it simple and easy, allowing you to return anything that you don’t like by submitting a return or exchange form online. They send you a free shipping label to return the items and automatically refund you when they receive the package. I made a return for an item that didn’t fit quite right, and it was a super easy process. Within two weeks from shipping the item back to them, I was refunded without any issues or further action on my end.
WHAT I ORDERED
1. The Stevie High Waisted Jean
Ever since I received these jeans in my box, they’ve quickly become my go-to pair of black denim. I love how dark the wash is, and the fit is flattering and shapely without being too tight, making them suitable for the office. They’re 100% cotton, meaning there’s no stretch and the denim has a more rigid, vintage feel to it. Despite the lack of stretch, the Stevie is honestly one of the most comfortable pairs of jeans I own.

2. “And” Intl. Women’s Day Cotton Tee
I’ll admit it: what initially attracted me to this tee was the blushy peach color. However, after I read the product’s description I was instantly certain that I had to have it. Frank And Oak’s “And” collection features a small selection of T-shirts made in collaboration with Petites-Mains, an organization that supports underprivileged women by helping them find jobs, learn trades, and helps them develop better social skills. Most importantly, Frank And Oak donates $5 from each sale to Equitas, another international organization that advocates for inclusion and equality in the workforce and beyond.

3. Ribbed Mock Neck Top
I’m a sucker for a good quality T-shirt with an elevated design and attention to detail. I think if done correctly, T-shirts can even be appropriate to wear to the office. This mock neck tee is the ideal example of such a shirt. It’s super fitted with a tad bit of stretch, and features a high neckline and mid-length sleeves for a little extra coverage.

FINAL VERDICT
Overall, I was super impressed with Style Plan. This doesn’t come as a huge surprise, as their collections have always resonated with my own fashion philosophy and personal style, but the logistics of how the plan works as well as the steep discount and bonus perks that Style Plan members get exclusive access to, makes it worth it the signing up for a membership. For busy professionals and moms who want to look good without fussing about what to wear (let alone having time to shop) , this service is a godsend.
