* Kristen Stewart named face of Chanel’s new fragrance
* “Gabrielle” fragrance monikered after full name of Coco Chanel
* Stewart also stars in label’s Gabrielle handbag campaign
Kirsten Stewart has added another campaign to her illustrious repertoire: she’s the new face of Chanel’s latest perfume, “Gabrielle.”
One of Karl Lagerfeld’s most consistent muses, Stewart has starred in many of Chanel’s fashion, beauty and handbag campaigns. Most notably, the newly blonde (and buzzed) actress was the face of Chanel’s Métiers d’Art collection and starred in the label’s corresponding fashion film, lensed by Lagerfeld himself. The Gabrielle campaign continues her relationship with the iconic designer and fashion house.
The new fragrance is scheduled to launch this Fall and is expected to be unveiled in a film directed by Ringan Ledwidge and a photo campaign shot by photographer Karim Sadli. No images have been released just yet.
In addition to the fragrance ad, Stewart also starred in Chanel’s latest “gender fluid” Gabrielle handbag ad, alongside Pharrell Williams, Caroline de Maigret and Cara Delevigne. Whether or not the Gabrielle fragrance will follow in the footsteps of the gender-neutral handbag of the same name, has not yet been revealed.
Lagerfeld said in an interview in 2016 that he repeatedly casts Stewart for his campaigns and films because, “She is a real personality. I don’t compare her to any other actress and she is really modern, whatever that means. And I think that she is perfect for the Chanel image of today.”
