The glasses connect to an app on your smartphone where you can create custom messages or choose designs and animations to be shown on the glasses. They’re a perfect upgrade for any party, festival, rave or sports event, but to be honest, they’re also just fun to mess around with.

Here’s how they work. You download the free Chemion brand app and connect to your new shades. The app features an easy-to-use interface that programs the glasses, and four built-in functions: text, creator, equalizer or explore. The text function is pretty obvious – you just write text that appears on the glasses – but the other three are a little more interesting. Creator lets you design animations and drawings, while explore lets you share your custom designs and download designs from other users. Equalizer turns your glasses into a visual representation of the music by showing a live equalizer (those bars that bounce around with the music) that listens to whatever is playing around you.

While the glasses sound undoubtedly fun in concept, we were a little worried about how well they actually work – until we read some reviews. The glasses boast 4.2 stars with 342 reviews on Amazon, which is pretty impressive for something like this. Users say the shades are very easy to use and project clear, bright messages that stand out in a crowd.

We highly suggest picking up a pair if you’re going to a concert, party, rave or any other event soon, or buy them as a gift for any party-lover in your life.
