NYU Introduces Fashion & Luxury MBA Program

* New York University will offer Fashion & Luxury MBA program
* The program will begin in May 2018
* One-year length with focus on experiential learning

NYU’s Stern School of Business has announced a new MBA program for prospective graduate students. The Fashion and Luxury program will be the first of its kind in the United States, merging the world of business and luxury fashion in one specialized program. The program will center its curriculum on training students for upper level and management positions within the fashion industry.

The one-year program will require completion of 51 units from courses ranging from “Corporate Finance” to “Next Gen Fashion.” The curriculum will be structured with an emphasis on experiential learning through the program’s “built-in industry projects,” allowing students to build up their portfolio while still enrolled.

According to the department’s website, examples of special projects range from working with consultants for fashion designers and assisting with statistical analysis for fashion retailers. The program will also require special visits to factories, retailers and PR firms and will host a number of guest lectures and events given by prominent figures in the fashion industry.

The university has also introduced a Luxury Marketing specialty to the program, which will focus on media and communications strategy pertaining to the luxury fashion industry, rather than the business side. The university is currently accepting applications for the program, which will begin in May 2018. The deadline to submit applications is November 15 2017.
