The NBA has a unique relationship with fashion. The two are inextricably linked together, with NBA entrance tunnels essentially replacing traditional fashion runways as the place to show off a player’s unique sense of style. So, perhaps, it’s not unsurprising that a fashion brand would want to collaborate with today’s trendsetters. And, if you’ve been paying close attention, it’s not surprising that Rowing Blazers would be the latest partner for the league.

The NYC-based brand — and a long-time favorite of SPY’s — has already made quite an impact on a few of the league’s best and brightest: Russell Westbrook, Donovan Mitchell, Carmelo Anthony, Tobias Harris, and even Dwayne Wade have worn selections from the brand. The mutual admiration has now been officially reciprocated, as just this morning Rowing Blazers launched their NBA Collection. As is typical for the brand, the collection evokes the classic Ivy League-influence at the core of the brand nodding towards ’60s and ’90s collegiate-era style. The lookbook for the collaboration was shot in a recreation of a college dorm room, further leaning into the overall college style. The pieces of the collection feel like something you’d see old-school ballplayers rock: blazers, rugby shirts, sweaters, duffel bags, pants, sweats, scarfs and more.
The full suite of teams in the initial collaboration — New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors — include most of the league’s heavy-hitters. Since Rowing Blazers is located in NYC, it absolutely makes sense to feature the two hometown teams and is especially timely considering the buzz around the Brooklyn Nets and their recent trade for James Harden. Legacy teams like the Celtics and the Lakers had to be there. But we love that RB included the Warriors in their collection, as the team’s recent championship run solidifies them as a modern dynasty. And speaking of legends, of course, the Bulls have a place as well. While some NBA fans might be bummed their team isn’t represented (I, personally, would have loved something for my five-time-champion San Antonio Spurs, but hopefully I’ll get it if this initial wave goes over well), it makes sense to go with the heaviest of the heavy-hitters from the league. But if you’re still looking to get something from the collaboration, the Jerry West-silhouetted NBA logo is present on a striking sweater and a really cool set of corduroy pants. Oh, and there’s even a literal basketball if you’re looking to get your hoops on — in style, of course.

Given the mutual love between the NBA and Rowing Blazers, we’re anticipating these pieces to move pretty quickly. So be sure to lace up your favorite pair of Jordans and get ready to hit the fast break to get your favorite. Sure, you might not have skills on the court to rival LeBron James — but looking as cool as they do sure just got a lot easier.
