Socks and sandals have long been considered a fashion don’t, but the combination is getting a fresh look right now. For the first time, you can find stylish folks wearing socks and sandals even at formal events. It’s a controversial fashion trend, but we’re starting to warm up to the idea.

This stylish and rugged combo is, according to Anders Bergstrom, Teva’s VP, “the ultimate socks and sandals uniform for Fall.” Bergstrom continued in a press release, “[We] automatically thought of Stance as the ideal partner for this story.” Stance, like Teva, believes in working with sustainable materials and minimizing its carbon footprint. “Utilizing recycled and upcycled yarns throughout this project made it even more special,” said Albie Rosario, VP of business development at Stance in the same release. “We hope both our customers enjoy the quality and design of this project and appreciate its meaning.”

The newly re-styled Hurricane XLT2 sandal goes eco-friendly with recycled fibers in variegated red, blue and green that weave into striped patterned straps. The sandal straps that arches over the toes are each embroidered with either  “R” or “L” in a deep maroon, which echoes the embroidery on the matching Stance socks. These decorated straps sit on a cream-colored molded base that has an EVA foam midsole that also offers light arch support. The sides of the sandal are speckled with the same hues as the straps, and the Hurricane XLT2 special edition sandal is finished out with a rugged Durabrasion outsole. This outsole provides traction and can help to prevent slippage, making it a great sandal for city streets and mild day hikes.

Stance’s matching limited edition socks use their performance style as the template for this cream and oatmeal-toned pair. They have lots of cushioning built in — perfect for adventurers, arch support — and they boast both performance mesh and wool yarns to keep feet dry, cool and ready for anything. The socks have a matching band of color that echoes the striped straps of the sandal. And as mentioned earlier, there’s an embroidered “L” and “R” on the socks, so you don’t mix them up when you put them on.

Must you wear the Teva Hurricane XLT2 sandal with the matching performance socks by Stance? Nope. If you’d rather show off your toes and wear those cushioned socks with sneakers and boots instead go ahead. However you wear them, your feet will be happy. Because they do look so cool together and they can be worn separately, it’s like you’re getting two different styles for the price of one.

It was mentioned earlier that the Teva X Stance Ultimate Soulmate Collaboration is a unisex style. That means that you either might want to keep a close eye on those socks and sandals before they, um, walk away. The other two options are either take turns wearing the sandals that can go for miles and miles or make your partner buy their own.
