There’s never been a better time to invest in a new timepiece. With a variety of smartwatches on the market, there are plenty of options to suit any need and accentuate your unique sense of style. Not only are these timepieces functional accessory, but they add a professional finishing touch to any look. And if you are looking for a watch to track all of your physical activities, most do that, too. You might as well get the most of your timepiece.
Gone are the days where you have to spend a fortune to get a quality watch. The watches below are ultra-functional, stylish, professional, and won’t hurt your wallet. Below are our choices for the best men’s smartwatches.
1. Apple Watch Series 5
Apple Watches are a great mix of style and utility. Not only will you look great in the office with the Apple Watch Series 5 around your wrist, but you will also be able to stay connected to all of your notifications, text messages and emails without having to pick up your phone. It’s also great for the gym, whether you go before or after the office. It keeps track of your activity during the day, and the Series 5 is waterproof, so it won’t break while you take laps in the pool and certainly won’t get ruined by a little sweat. It’s one of the most stylish and useful timepieces you can put around your wrist.
2. Garmin Forerunner 935
BEST FOR RUNNERS
The Garmin Forerunner 935 is a solid option for those who want a good-looking watch, but also need a ton of utility from their device. This smartwatch has every bit of utility as the Apple Watch does, but is specially made for activities. You can track a handful of multi-sport activities, including running, cycling and swimming, to name a few. The data goes much more in-depth by tracking things like your stride length and your estimated recovery time. It also has GPS, an altimeter and a barometer to track your distances and elevation. Beyond the workout utility, you can also receive your phone’s notifications on your watch, so you can stay connected without pulling out your phone. If you want a stylish smartwatch, but need a bit more activity tracking capabilities, we recommend going with this Garmin.
3. Suunto Core Military Outdoor Sports Watch
The Suunto Core Military Sports Watch is for those who need a little more from their watch. This watch has an abundance of features, including an altimeter that tracks the elevation gained when you are hiking, trail-running or climbing, as well as a compass to help guide you if you get lost. And the barometer senses drops in air pressure for when you are outside, and a storm is starting to form. But just because this watch is ultra-rugged, doesn’t mean it isn’t stylish. The large all-black watch face and the black band look great whether you are dressed up for your meeting, or getting ready for a long trail run. If you want a watch that will keep up with you, no matter the activity or weather, consider this Suunto.
4. Fitbit Versa 2
BEST FITBIT OPTION
The Fitbit Versa is for those who enjoy the fitness tracking of a Fitbit but still want smartwatch functionality. You can have all the great things you love about your Fitbit––heart-rate monitor, pedometer–– but with a touchscreen AMOLED display that has a never-off function. This watch isn’t looking to replace your smartphone; instead, it’s a reliable companion. You can view your messages and look at your calendar when your watch is paired to your phone, but the watch itself doesn’t have GPS or offline music listening capabilities, so if you want to track where you are going on your run, you will still need your phone. If you are looking for a watch to “replace” your phone, this isn’t it, but if you love your Fitbit, and want a nice upgrade without a huge price jump, we think this is a stellar option.
5. Samsung Galaxy Watch
BEST BATTERY LIFE
The Samsung Galaxy is a great looking smartwatch with a crazy amount of battery life. The Galaxy can last up to five days on a single charge, which is fantastic for a watch of this caliber. And as far as aesthetics go, this watch looks excellent with casual and professional wear, especially for how much activity it can handle. Samsung runs with the Tizen OS, a simple-to-use operating system, which makes it the right choice for people dabbling with their first smartwatch. There have been reports that this smartwatch doesn’t have as accurate of a heart-rate monitor or pedometer as the Fossil Sport or Fitbit Versa, but the sleep tracking has a better track record (no pun intended). We recommend this watch for Android users who want to get a stylish smartwatch around their wrist.
6. Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2
BEST FOR ACTIVE ANDROID USERS
There is a lot to like about the Samsung Galaxy Active 2. For starters, it’s a sleek-looking watch that will look great around your wrist, whether you are wearing workout clothes or your suit. Beyond the killer aesthetics, the features as an activity watch are on par with its great looks. If you like to listen to music while you run, you can store music on the Smartwatch and ditch your phone. Also, if you forget to set your phone to track a run, don’t worry, The Galaxy Active 2 has your back during forgetful times and will track activities in the background. You’ll be able to check out your social media and scroll through Twitter on your watch, but many have complained that third-party apps on the watch are a bit sparse, which is a minimal complaint for most. Regardless, this is a great watch that is both active and attractive.
7. TicWatch E2
BEST SMALL BRAND SMARTWATCH
This is an affordable smartwatch that has some decent activity features. It’s not the most stylish design––the band is a little blah, and there isn’t much to the all-black watch face either. But like the Samsung Galaxy Active 2, you can download music to your smartwatch so you can leave your phone behind on runs, which is a godsend for runners. What’s more, the watch has GPS capabilities so that you can track your routes, as well. And if you are connected to WiFi, you can use Google Assistant to speak commands to your watch. Even with heavy use, you’ll be able to rock your watch for two to three days without having to charge it. There is a lot to like about this affordable smartwatch, even if it’s not a huge name brand.
8. Tag Heuer Connected Modular 45
If you have the money to spend and want a little bit more luxury from your smartwatch, you should consider the Tag Heuer Connected Modular 45. It has the classic look of a mechanical watch, but an AMOLED screen that boasts 400 x 400 resolution that is always on. This watch won’t be for the active type, as it is missing a heart-rate monitor, although it does boast GPS capabilities. There isn’t a way to connect this watch to 4G, but it does have WiFi, so while you are connected to your home network, you can stay away from your phone and use your watch for notifications. The reason you get this watch is for the unmistakable style of the Swiss Brand.
