UGG is taking a walk down memory lane with the launch of Est. 1978 this week, a premium men’s collection of ruggedly refined footwear and accessories that hark back to the brand’s original surf roots and coastal influences.
From Footwear News:
Evoking a broad spectrum of life in California including the beach, mountains and coastal cities, the limited-edition collection epitomizes a luxurious relaxed, natural lifestyle.
“The collection celebrates our early days of surf, sand and an appreciation for craftsmanship and heritage,” said Rob Koenen, VP of UGG for Men. “Est. 1978 pays homage to the original boot which was, and still is handcrafted the same way surfboard shapers meticulously refined longboards in the early days. Every design detail was thoughtfully considered from rich, premium leathers to detailed construction in the U.S.”
The collection offers bespoke detailing and construction using rich leathers, soft suedes and merino sheepskin. Partnering with a local, Southern California artisan, one-of-a-kind belts are crafted by a third generation leather craftsman.
In addition to the footwear, there are rugged rucksacks and weekend bags that offer a lifetime guarantee and are made in America in conjunction with Bucheimer NYC.
Est. 1978 is available exclusively at Ugg concept stores worldwide, online and select wholesale partners. The Thayne slipper retails for $225; the Lorne slipper for $250 and the Gustin boot for $600.
