If you’re looking to crank up the volume on your summer wardrobe with a heavy dose of rad ’80s style and major party vibes, look no further than the new ASOS x MTV collaboration. Inspired by the nostalgic age of pop television and defined by the MTV generation, the fashion collection is all about edgy retro streetwear — think 80s street silhouettes, ruffles, acid-wash, metallics, bright neon colors and decorated denim details.
Designer Sian Ryan told WWD, “It was exciting to be able to create a credible fashion range that wasn’t just your typical T-shirt collaboration. The collection includes so many statement pieces and the 80s decade provided so much great inspiration for graphics, print and color.”
The 20-piece collab features a mix of clothing and accessories for both men and women including a fearless mix of flashy animal prints, graffiti neon pieces and bold psychedelic colors splashed across acid washed jeans, oversized tees, form-fitted bodycon dresses, summer-worthy swimwear, comfy jogger pants and the classic MTV logo-embellished denim jacket. Of course, it won’t be a true nod to the 80s without beanies, sneakers and the “it’s so uncool that it’s cool” fanny pack.
The limited-edition ASOS x MTV collection is available online beginning June 23, with a few more pieces (including the jacket above) being released in July.
