The Hammacher Schlemmer Ergonomic Head Shaver Is Quite Literally Magic

I’ve been shaving my head bald since I was about 20 years old. Poor genetics, am I right? Thanks, dad.

But, since I’ve begun shaving my head, I’ve gone through a multitude of the best head shavers in hopes to capture the smoothest shave on the planet. I started with a classic hair buzzer which left me with a little too much peach fuzz and found myself going down to the bone using the best razors most would use on their face.

It wasn’t until recently that I gave a true head shaver a good whirl that I realized what I was missing out on. And, in my quest to find the best, you guys piqued my curiosity toward one shaver in particular: Hammacher Schlemmer’s Ergonomic Bald Head Shaver.

For complete transparency, these have been one of the hottest items at SPY in the past year. So much so that we named it a top product in The 2021 Man, our end-of-year product awards. All it is is an affordable, 5-headed gentle head shaver that actually works. So as the team’s only bald baddie, I figured it was best I tried the shaver out for myself to give it the review it truly deserves.

Let’s start with just how ergonomic it really is. When I tell you that the grip on this thing makes shaving a genuine breeze, that’s simply an understatement. Holding it is as simple as holding your iPhone. You never want to let go. It feels comfortable in the palm of your hand and easily glides over your scalp with effortless motion.

As it glides, the fear I had most was nipping and pulling. I’ve used clippers in the past on my beard that have done me way too dirty, so you can say I have trust issues with new shavers. I started off lightly but noticed I needed to put a bit more chutzpah into it, so I pressed down and put my all into it. I started rubbing my head back and forth, side to side and noticed… nothing. No pain – and most importantly, no hair, either.

Hair was disappearing like it wasn’t even there to begin with. And when I say disappear, I mean it. I didn’t see it on the shaver itself, there wasn’t much runoff on my head and there were only tiny specs of hair in the sink. Did the shaver… eat it? I still can’t wrap my head around it.

The only issue I had was around my ears, but I think that is something that will improve with a little more time. I was hesitant to go around the ear area because the shape of the shaver made it a bit of an awkward reach and I didn’t want to cut myself. Though, I’m almost certain I wouldn’t have given how smooth my shaving experience was.

Battery life is wildly high at 60 minutes per charge for a cordless shave. And, what I really loved about the experience was that at the very end, the shaver tells you just how long your shave was with how much time is left in the charge. You can get a solid 10 shaves out of this baby depending on your speed before you have to charge again. It’s bizarre.

In addition to the shaver, a slew of extra pieces come in the box for various grooming needs I wasn’t expecting. These pieces include a facial scrub brush, an exfoliator, a sideburn shaver and a nose/ear hair trimmer. Hammacher Schlemmer is really letting us do it all.

When it’s time for cleaning, a simple rinse under the sink will have your shaver back to normal and ready for round two. It’s just too easy.

If you’re shaving your head bald, you need to do it with the Hammacher Schlemmer Ergonomic Head Shaver. It’s simply going to change the way you shave your head for the better. Pick it up now for just $60 using the button below and watch this baby work its magic.
