Lived-In Review: Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Mask

* Light therapy is a common way to treat acne by targeting inflammation and bacteria
* Neutrogena has created an easy way to use light therapy at home at a low cost
* Their light treatments are 100% UV free and chemical free

The Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Mask is currently the only at-home LED device that treats with blue and red lights, which target bacteria and inflammation respectively. The technology of the mask disrupts your acne cycle and allows for clearer skin. The mask’s technology is similar to what you would experience with a dermatologist at a smaller scale.

I tried the Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Mask, which comes with 30 sessions meant to be used each day for a month. Once you have the mask, you can purchase more sessions with the Light Therapy Acne Mask Activator. Here’s what happened:

I am always trying to find new ways to treat my skin and keep it clear and smooth. I had clear skin all throughout middle school and high school, and started getting pimples in college. Unfortunately, they have yet to go away and I still struggle with acne pretty regularly. You’ve probably heard of crazy Korean skincare routines, and I’m sure that most of what you’ve heard is true.

Whenever I visit Korea, my skincare is a priority and I visit the dermatologist on a weekly basis. I’ve gotten laser treatments and tried various types of medicine that have cleared my skin and had proven results. However, when I am back in the States, I find myself struggling to keep my skin free of acne and I simply don’t know where to start to get treated.

I was very excited to try out the Neutrogena Light Therapy Mask because it is so simple and easy to incorporate into my daily skincare routine. At such a low price, this mask really helps clear skin and also makes me stick to a more strict routine. I used this mask daily for 29 days (I lost one day due to walking around in the mask and dropping the remote, causing the session to end) and I will definitely be supplying myself with more sessions.

Each session is 10 minutes, so I would recommend using the mask when you are ready to go to sleep as the very last step in your nighttime routine. The mask plugs into an activator, and you can accidentally lose a session if the plug falls out! I tried watching my favorite TV shows or looking at my phone while using the mask for the first couple of days, but realized that it works best when you lie flat on your back.

During my trial of this mask, I went on a trip to Chicago and to New York. It was really great that I could easily travel with the mask and it didn’t take much space either. I struggle with redness and with each day of using the mask, I could see the redness in my face fade slowly. I enjoyed using the mask and will be continuing to use it to clear my face.

This isn’t a miracle cure for all your skin and acne issues, but when used in conjunction with a diligent skincare routine, I can definitely see results and improvements beginning to take shape.

Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Spot Treatment

If you have pretty clear skin overall and just struggle with one or two pimples here and there, Neutrogena also offers a spot treatment device. Unlike the mask that lasts for 10 minutes, the spot treatment device treats for 2 minutes. You can use it a few times each day and slowly watch the pimple fade. This product is great if you are always on the go and don’t need the full treatment that the mask provides. It’s also portable enough to fit in your purse or pocket too.
