1. Philips Norelco Nose Trimmer 5000

BEST OVERALL

It was a close call for the top pick, but in the end, the Philips Norelco Nose Trimmer 5000 is our best nose hair trimmer. Though we wish it was fully waterproof and shower-ready, this device makes up for it with its quality trimming and three swappable heads. We could quote the technology from Philips Norelco, but the bottom line is this nose hair trimmer works well, cleaning our nose and ears hairs quickly and easily, and is easy to use and clean. We also gave the linear and detail heads a try and they worked just as well to groom short hair, like our bushy eyebrows and sideburns. You can even use the linear head instead of the rotary head for your ears and nose, if you please.

Plus, and this is small, but we love that Philips Norelco ships a single AA battery with the trimmer. Nothing is worse than buying a new device only to find you don’t have the battery to fire it up right away.

Finally, even if you don’t want the accouterments, you can buy the very similar Philips Norelco Nose Trimmer 1000, which delivers a similar quality trim and a price point under $10.00.

Overall, the Philips Norelco Nose Trimmer 5000 rises to the level of effective precision trimmer and is our best nose hair trimmer.

2. Zorami Nose and Ear Hair Trimmer

RUNNER-UP

The Zorami Nose and Ear Hair Trimmer was a strong runner-up and offered all the basics you want: It quickly and efficiently cut our nose and ear hairs over multiple sessions, with surprisingly minimal tugging, it handled water from the shower just fine, it lasted longer than expected on a single AA battery and it’s about as cheap a nose hair trimmer as you can find.

We also found it to be pretty quiet and well-made for a nose hair trimmer. If the trimmer’s well made, it shouldn’t oscillate or tickle you too much, and that was true for the Zorami. It also had a better seal between parts, making it easier to trust taking into the shower.

3. Mowbie Detail Trimmer

CONTENDER

If the Mowbie was just a little bit cheaper, it’d be a runaway winner with its quality build and accoutrements.

The Mowbie can confidently call itself a detail trimmer, thanks to its three different heads meant for nose, ears, eyebrows and sideburns. Beyond that, it features two LED spotlights, which, as silly as they may seem, were really helpful for every kind of trimming except ears, and a pair of retractable tweezers.

As for the core experience, trimming nose and ear hair, the Mowbie definitely got the job done. However, the trimmer head isn’t a rotary head like most nose and ear hair trimmers, it’s vertical. Though it was plenty safe and didn’t cut us, it was a little different and took a minute to get used to.

Last but not least, the Mowbie is fully waterproof, shower-ready and rechargeable, so no worries about not having batteries, which we’d bet is preferable for a lot of guys.

Overall, the Mowbie offers a sleeker, more sophisticated take on ear and nose hair trimmer that may be worth the extra expense for some guys.

4. MANGROOMER Essential Nose and Ear Hair Trimmer

BUDGET PICK

The MANGROOMER Essential Nose and Ear Hair Trimmer is a solid, budget-friendly trimmer. In our testing, it easily cut through our nose and ear hairs. We also appreciated that the actual metal part of the trimmer was longer than average, even if it’s hard to say definitely it made a difference. Given the trimmer’s low price, we were also surprised it was shower-safe; the rubberized grip was indeed easier to handle when slick than other trimmers.

But that’s all there is to say about the MANGROOMER trimmer. The cut was good, the AA battery powered it through multiple uses, it can handle water and it’s definitely affordable, but there’s not much going on to distinguish it from the pack otherwise. That’s not an unreasonable product and with the trimmer’s price point, finding out if it’s the best nose hair trimmer for you is easy enough, even if it wasn’t our top pick.

5. ConairMAN Metal Craft Ear and Nose Trimmer

BEST FOR NEWCOMERS

The ConairMAN Metal Craft Ear and Nose Trimmer delivers a top-notch, safe trim in a compact, travel-friendly package. Even though it doesn’t look or feel hefty or powerful, this trimmer was as easy to use and as competent as the other nose and ear hair trimmers. But the big shout-out for this trimmer is reserved for the actual head itself. The metal part is flared outward, increasing the distance between skin and blade and minimizing the risk of skin getting cut. That gave us a lot of confidence (gently) pressing the trimmer against the inside of our noses and ears.

However, the ConairMan trimmer isn’t as price friendly as other options and doesn’t offer any other bells and whistles, like being waterproof, though the head is rinsable.

Overall, it’s simple, effective, extra safe for skin, easily portable and runs long enough on a AA battery. If you’re new to trimming your nose and ear hair, we think the ConairMan trimmer will be the best nose hair trimmer for you, mostly thanks to its unusual trimmer head.

6. Meridian Up-Here Trimmer

BEST DESIGN

For the man with a little more cash to splash, the Meridian Up-Here Trimmer is the best-looking nose and ear hair trimmer on the market. Meridian is known for its sleek, modern trimmers and the Up-Here Trimmer was not a let-down there. Not only does it look the best, but it boasts the fastest motor among the trimmers we tested (9,000 RPM motor), it’s fully waterproof and rechargeable, running 30 minutes straight on a full charge, and features a built-in light to help you track where you’re trimming. Our testing bore out our initial positive impressions: This is a highly efficient and highly effective trimmer that made short work of our nose and ear hairs with no discomfort whatsoever.

But what really sinks the Meridian is its price. We love grooming and grooming products and we’re hard-pressed to spend upward of $40.00 on an ear and nose hair trimmer, even if it is the sports car of trimmers.

Overall, if you want the best machine and don’t mind the extra cost that comes with that, the Meridian Up-Here Trimmer is the best nose hair trimmer for you.

Why You Should Consider Using the Best Nose Hair Trimmer

There are a few reasons ear and nose hair trimmers might be worth your time and money.

  • Many ear and nose hair trimmers have added functionality beyond nose and ear hair. Some include swappable heads, allowing you to groom details like eyebrows and sideburns.
  • An electric nose and ear hair trimmer will be much easier and safer than any other removal method. Sure, you could pluck nose hairs, but trust us, it’s far too unpleasant on a per-pluck basis, not to mention not nearly comprehensive enough. As for ears, you should never stick anything sharp or pointy in your ears.
  • Ear and nose hair trimmers aren’t just safer than other methods, they’re also easier. They’re easy to clean, reusable and straightforward to use. Just turn the trimmer on, slowly and gently rotate it around your nostril or ear canal, rinse the head and you’re done.
  • The simplest and best reason to use a nose hair trimmer is if you have a lot of nose and ear hair that you want to get rid of. If you just don’t like the look of it, that’s totally OK. Or maybe you just like that clean feeling in your nose and ear from removing them. Whatever the reason, using a nose and ear hair trimmer will be the fastest way to a solution.

How We Tested and Chose the Best Nose Hair Trimmer

Trimming nose and ear hairs is a serious business. The last thing we want you (or ourselves, for that matter) to do is end up with a bad nose hair trimmer. So we thought about what makes a great nose hair trimmer, the kinds of features we’d like, how the cutting and clean-up should go and then we put the nose hair trimmers to the test. Here’s specifically what we tested for and the kinds of questions we asked for each product.

  • Waterproof: How water-safe is the nose hair trimmer? Can the handle be hit with water or only the head? For guys who enjoy the flexibility of trimming in the shower, these little differences are important, unless you want to brick your nose hair trimmer. (Note: None of these devices should ever be submerged in water. That’s a whole different kind of waterproof.)
  • Quality of experience: Did the nose hair trimmer do its job quickly, cleanly and painlessly? Did the trimmer get worse after a few trims? Most trimmers don’t have replaceable blades, so durability and clean cuts over time are key. Being able to easily clean the trimmer head is essential too.
  • Special features: Was the trimmer rechargeable? Did it have any bells and whistles? Does the trimmer feature multiple heads or could it be used for something else besides noses and ears? Versatility isn’t essential, but it can definitely help justify buying a trimmer or a higher price point. We assume that most guys for the most part want these extra features to make their trimmers more useful and convenient.
  • Price: How pricey is the trimmer? For a typically non-essential product like a nose hair trimmer, price matters a lot. If it’s too pricey, most people won’t buy it. If it’s too cheap, it may not be very high in quality.
