Fitted Sheet Not So Fitted Anymore? Get These Sheet Fasteners

There comes a time in the life of a fitted sheet where the word “fitted” doesn’t quite apply anymore. As the elastic wears down from repeatedly being pulled on and off, the sheet may start to lose its grip on the mattress.

This can result in a variety of problems in both function and appearance. The sheet may slip off the corner of the mattress in the middle of the night, for example. And even if it stays in place, it may have a saggy appearance, making your fixed bed look more disheveled than an unmade one. But that doesn’t mean you should replace your fitted sheet, especially if the fabric itself is still in good shape. You also don’t have settle for sloppy-looking and slippery sheets.

Sheet fasteners are the simple, intuitive solution to this common problem, allowing you to prolong the lifespan of your fitted sheets. Sheet fasteners bear some resemblance in form and function to suspenders; they typically have metal clips that attach to the ends of the fitted sheet, as well as some kind of adjustable elastic to tighten the sheet to your preference. These can also help your sheet fit more securely to a bed that’s smaller than your previous one, such as if you’re moving into a dorm.

Sheet fasteners come in a few varieties. One style features shorter clips that attach to each of the corners, making the corners tighter. The main benefit of these is that they are easy to attach. You can also find longer straps that go across the entire length of the bottom of the mattress. These offer a more secure fit but can be substantially more difficult to attach.

We’ve found some of the best sheet fasteners available right now, which you can check out below.

1. Bed Band Bed Sheet Holder

These sheet fasteners are easy to attach and work with any kind of fitted sheet. A set of four fasteners are included, and each fastener has two metal buckles with a drawcord between them. The drawcord features a simple sliding fastener that tightens and loosens the fit, making for easy adjustments. BedBand’s product is also American-made.

Pros: American-made. A versatile option that works with other items like tablecloths.

Cons: Since it only secures the corners, the sides may still ride up.

Each individual strap has a sliding buckle, allowing you to adjust the fasteners as needed. They extend from a minimum of 7″ to a maximum 18″, giving them a wide range of adjustability.

3. Siaomo Bed Sheet Fasteners

Many of the most popular bed sheet fasteners only attach to the corners, which only provides so much security. This set is different. Two long fastener straps are included, and they can cross the entire length of the mattress, either corner-to-corner in an X-shape or top-to-bottom and side-to-side in a T-shape. The end of each strap has two buckles, and the straps are adjustable in multiple places for a customized fit.

Pros: Straps cross the entire length of the mattress for a more secure fit. Multiple sliding buckles to adjust the straps.

Cons: Since it has to reach under the entire mattress, it can be hard to put on by yourself.
