The art world said goodbye last week to pioneering pop artist James Rosenquist. He was 83.

Born in 1933 to parents who were amateur pilots, Rosenquist studied art at the Minneapolis School of Art and University of Minnesota before moving to New York in 1955 on a scholarship to the Art Students League.

When a Leak...

Along with Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, Rosenquist developed a style that drew subject matter from mass culture and depicted it using commercial techniques. Warhol was known for silk screening; Rosenquist’s primary method was billboard painting.

Now you can have your very own piece of Pop Art history with a signed and numbered limited-edition 11-color lithograph entitled, “When a Leak…” It’s signed and dated 1980 in pencil, and is number 26 of the 58 impressions.

Published by Gemini G.E.L. of Los Angeles, their embossed blindstamp can be identified at the lower right. The lithograph itself measures 43.25” x 54” and with the accompanying natural maple wood frame, it measures 46.5” x 56.5.”

The authenticity is guaranteed, as the seller boasts a 100% satisfaction rating. Purchase this true collector’s piece to display in your living room, or use it as inspiration in your office. Rosenquist’s talent was one-of-a-kind and it’s celebrated in this beautiful print.
