Originally designed by Charles Eames and Eero Saarinen in 1941 for a competition organized by the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Organic Chair went on to win two first place prizes at the competition. At the time, the duo were attempting to design a a comfortable and affordable chair that could be mass produced using several layers of plywood. In fact, the winning design was presented via drawings and small models. It wasn’t until 2004 when the Organic armchair actually went into production.
