How Hollywood Moms Are Celebrating Mother’s Day

* Mother’s Day is this Sunday, May 14
* Treat mom to a scrumptious brunch, luxurious treatment, or funny movie
* Three L.A. institutions that continue to attract the A-list

Mother’s Day is this weekend, and if you’re looking for inspiration for where to take your mom, here’s where the stars will be celebrating in Tinseltown.

1. Take Mom to Brunch at BOA Steakhouse

Located on the star-studded Sunset Blvd. in the heart of West Hollywood, BOA has been a celeb-staple in Los Angeles for years. It’s still as glamorous as ever, frequented by the likes of Ryan Seacrest, Selena Gomez and Victoria’s Secret supermodel (and super mom), Alessandra Ambrosio.

While the restaurant is known for its impeccably-curated food and cocktail menu, BOA also plays host to many industry after parties, and was home to a number of events during the recent Golden Globes and Oscar Awards season.

For Mother’s Day, BOA will be serving its famous Mother’s Day Brunch, which includes a seafood bar (with snow crab, oysters and ceviche), an “egg station” (with made to order benedicts and frittatas), a taco bar and a carving station with the steakhouse’s signature 40-day dry-aged New York striploin. For dessert: a crepe station, along with a selection of French and Italian pastries.

2. Treat Mom to a Facial at Kate Somerville

Hidden among the cozy bungalows on Melrose Place, Kate Somerville Skin Health Experts is the go-to spot for celebs and locals alike. Founded more than ten years ago, Kate Somerville now counts Hollywood moms Kate Hudson, Jessica Alba and Demi Moore among her clients, while her eponymous skincare line is sold everywhere from the U.S. to Asia.

Most flock to the clinic for her signature facial, which begins with enzymatic exfoliation and necessary extractions, followed by a customized treatment mask. The facial finishes with an acupressure massage. Skin is left smoother, clearer and healthier than before.

Somerville also offers specialized treatments, like an oxygen and vitamin C boost, and a CytoCell facial, which helps combat visible signs of aging, by using an encapsulated micro stem cell technology. If you’re a mom-to-be, try the pregnancy facial, which was created for the expectant mother with her needs and comfort in mind.

Can’t make it to L.A.? Treat mom to Kate Somerville’s exclusive, “The Hollywood Perfect Skin In 1, 2, 3 Set.” The travel-sized set includes Somerville’s three essentials (for exfoliating, lifting and moisturizing) plus a gentle daily wash and a travel zip bag.

3. Set a Mommy Movie Date

New to theaters this weekend is Snatched, the new comedy starring Goldie Hawn and Amy Schumer as a mother-daughter duo who decide to take an exotic South American vacation, only for things to take some horribly (and presumably funny) wrong turns.

This is Hawn’s first feature film in nearly 15 years, while Schumer is coming off the success of her film, Trainwreck, and her numerous television comedy specials. Released just in time for Mother’s Day, Snatched is notable for not only uniting two generations of female comedic talent, but for also speaking to that unmistakable bond between mother and child.

Here’s the plan: head over to Fandango to see showtimes for Snatched, and then surprise mom with tickets. For a limited time, Fandango is offering a free bouquet of flowers from The Bouqs, with every ticket purchase.

Another option: order up a gift card for mom from Amazon (like the one for AMC Theaters, above) and let her choose the movie she wants to watch. Snatched may be, in our opinion, the perfect film for Mother’s Day, but you know your mom the best. Who knows, she might just have other ideas in mind — after all, hunky Charlie Hunnam is starring in King Arthur and that opens this weekend too.
