The timelines differ, but legend has it, the margarita was invented in the late 1930s or early 1940s in Mexico — either in Tijuana or Juarez, depending on what you read. The drink has since become a staple for house parties and Taco Tuesdays alike. And now, it’s even got its own national day.

Celebrate National Margarita Day (or any day, really) with this easy recipe from Jalapeño Pete’s – a popular Mexican restaurant in Studio City, CA.
Their House Margarita (pictured at left) is a customer favorite, and super easy to replicate at home. Here’s what you’ll need:
Jalepeno Pete’s House Margarita
2 oz. Maestro Dobel Tequila
1 oz. Agave
1 oz. Damiana Liqueur
Slices of lime to garnish
Spicy margarita salt for rim
Pour the ingredients into a shaker and shake with ice. Carefully strain into a glass (pre-rim with spicy salt if desired). Garnish with lime and serve over ice. Recipe is for a single serving.
