Online-based courses are a great and convenient way to pursue a degree, learn something new or brush up on something you already know in the privacy of your own home. Coursera is an education-focused technology company founded by two Stanford professors that offers online courses with a variety of programs to choose from such as business, computer science, and confidence building life skills.

We have chosen a few key courses from the Personal Development specialization to highlight in which you can choose from a variety of important, life-improving skills from public speaking to understanding what the vital signs of the body can tell you. Throughout these courses, you will tackle hands-on projects based on real business challenges and earn a specialization certificate to share with potential employers.

1. Public Speaking

Public speaking is one of the most feared skills for people, yet is an important and enduring job skill to have. The Dynamic Public Speaking Specialization course will provide you with the instruction, experience and practice to develop and deliver compelling presentations and help you reduce your nerves for the next event. This specialization is broken up into four courses of which you can follow in whatever order you choose, that slowly work up specific skills to practice before putting together a longer speech. Perfect for speakers of all levels, students will design, practice, record and receive feedback on speeches and when completed you will leave with the experience and skills to design presentations and a portfolio of polished speeches.
